Barrhill Feeders Inc. is currently feeding 75 000 head between two feedlot operations located 10 miles North of Picture Butte, AB or 10 miles East of Barons, AB. As an Assistant Foreman you are directly responsible to the owners of the feedlots, and to the owners of the cattle that are being custom fed on the feedlot. While the Foreman is considered the main point of contact regarding daily feedlot operations the Assistant Foreman is expected to assist the Foreman with daily operations. The Assistant Foreman is also considered to be interchangeable and fluid within the Forman’s role at the feedlot when the Foreman is on scheduled days off or unable to attend to a situation at hand. Major Responsibilities: - Oversee the crews working within the feedlot the barns, pen checkers, feed truck drivers, and other crews that may be present on the premises. - - -- Oversight includes being able to monitor and provide insight to productivity, safety, and accuracy of the job at hand. - Communicate up to date information to cattle owners, feedlot owners, veterinarians, and nutritionists. - Ensure a high level of care for the health of the cattle, feeding operations, equipment operation and maintenance. - Ensure new employees are properly oriented with job role and can provide training when necessary to conduct their job position safely and properly that includes but is not limited to feeding, processing, diagnosing, and treating sick or injured animals. - Ensure employees are following protocols and safety recommendations as per Barrhill Feeders Inc. Management. - Ability to monitor overall cattle condition in the feedlot. - Ensure cattle records are up to date and accurate. - Ability to manage bunks, rations, and feed mill. - Ensure that feedlot deficiencies, safety incidents, and employee non-compliances are reported to Barrhill Feeders Inc. Management. - Oversee all activities with 360-degree awareness, must be able to step into job roles when necessary for training, to cover for employee shortage or any other reason. - Additional administrative, barn or feedlot duties where necessary.
