Aceso Medical is seeking an experienced Occupational Medicine Physician to join our team and provide expert clinical and advisory services focused on workplace health and safety. This role is integral to promoting employee well-being, preventing occupational illness, and ensuring compliance with Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical assessments
* Diagnose and manage work-related injuries and illnesses;
develop rehabilitation and reintegration plans
* Perform workplace hazard assessments and advise on risk mitigation strategies
* Oversee occupational screening programs (e.G., drug and alcohol testing)
* Deliver health and safety education to employees, management and clients
* Maintain accurate medical documentation for regulatory and workers’ compensation purposes
* Collaborate with HR, safety officers, and insurers on workplace health policies
* Stay current with Alberta OHS legislation and CPSA standards
* Physician medical monitoring
* First Responder medical assessments
* Medical directives for internal nurses
* Medical consultations for large employers
* Audiological reviews
* Vaccine clinic management
* Conduct Independent Medical exams
Qualifications
* Licensed by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
* Occupational Medicine (ABCOM/CCBOM or FRCPC in Occupational Medicine ) training and experience is required.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to use electronic communication tools and general computer knowledge.
* CMPA membership for liability coverage
* Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code
