    Primary Purpose: The Academic Advisor supports learner success and retention through proactive engagement with students to help guide them through their academic and personal planning. The Advisor is responsible for the development implementation, and ongoing coordination of ASM’s learner support initiatives such as academic planning, course selection, and personal support. Responsibilities include meeting with students to develop personal academic plans, developing workshops and activities to enhance student experience and learning, delivery of workshops, ongoing development and updating of the student success and retention plan and coordinating support services with other areas of the institution.
    Key Responsibilities:Provide customer service – oriented, student-centred guidance and counsel based on individual circumstances, preferences, etc., and compliance with all associated policies, rues, and regulations.Help students to explore their intellectual interests, assess their abilities, and plan a study tailored to preparing each student for their academic and career goals. Assists students in making informed decisions about a choice of primary and potential career path. Advise current and prospective students regarding placement assessment interpretation, curricular requirements related to academic objectives, career options, and registration procedures. Develop a degree completion plan with each advisee by evaluating any previous course work and assisting students in understanding degree requirements. Work with and approve student requests for a variety of academic actions. Assist in implementing interventions, referral, and retention programs for students; establish and execute referral and follow-up procedures. Coordinate and implement digital and print advertising campaigns targeting diverse audiences. Ensure all marketing initiatives align with ASM's brand guidelines and institutional goals. Content Creation & Management Develop and schedule engaging content for social media platforms, newsletters, and the ASM website. Design and edit visual assets (graphics, posters, banners) using tools such as Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar. Support video and photo production for marketing and promotional use. Digital Engagement & Performance Tracking Monitor, analyze, and report on social media and campaign performance using tools such as Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, etc. Track web traffic and audience engagement metrics to inform future strategy. Event Promotion & Coverage Promote and provide coverage for campus events, workshops, and community engagement activities. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper visibility and support for institutional events. Team & Project Coordination Supervise and coordinate schedules for student workers involved in content creation and digital campaigns. Liaise with internal teams (e.g., Student Services, Academic Programs, IT) to gather information and align messaging. Coordinate with external vendors, community partners, and media contacts as needed. Brand Stewardship Ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, and visual identity across all marketing materials and communication channels. Uphold and promote ASM’s values and identity in all public-facing materials. Administrative & General Support Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling, organizing assets, and maintaining digital archives. Support the Manager of Marketing and Communications with special projects and initiatives as assigned. Qualifications, Technical skills and Experience required of this role include: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, Social Media Marketing) are a plus. Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting. Proven experience in managing social media channels and executing digital marketing campaigns. Experience in content creation (writing, graphic design, video editing) for digital and print platforms. Familiarity with event planning and promotion, particularly in educational or community-driven environments. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners. Experience using project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, or similar).
