  • IN-PERSON EMPLOYMENT IN KUUJJUAQ The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel, is currently seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join its team in the following permanent full-time position: PROJECT MANAGER, SUSTAINABLE LAND USE PLANNING (Permanent, full-time position) The Environment and Lands Section of the Renewable Resources, Environment, Land Use and Parks Department is responsible for planning new expansion areas in Northern villages. This planning must consider built environment issues, particularly permafrost, rugged topography, snow accumulation, drainage, and the availability of granular material, to ensure sustainable community development. Reporting to the Land Use Planning Coordinator, the selected candidate will work closely with various KRG departments, Northern villages, specialized firms, academic institutions, and other stakeholders and will be responsible for developing and coordinating development plans and various projects related to the sustainable development of Northern communities. These development plans aim to define and design future community expansion areas, ensuring long-term infrastructure sustainability, considering climate projections, and integrating climate change adaptation measures. Main responsibilities include: Coordinating consultants in studies of potential sites, such as geotechnical studies, hydrological studies, environmental assessments, land surveys, civil engineering plans, archaeological reports, etc. Collaborating with Northern villages, KRG planners, consultants, researchers, and various KRG departments to design development plans for expansion areas or other projects related to sustainable land use planning; Conducting in-depth analysis of potential expansion sites; Updating procedures and documents related to land use planning projects, incorporating best practices and lessons learned; Preparing tender documents when necessary; Ensuring compliance with timelines, deliverables, budgets, and overseeing project changes, inspections, and reporting to authorities; Ensuring projects comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines; Documenting best practices and lessons learned in collaboration with consultants; Participating in the updating of planning documents and municipal regulations; Managing the administrative aspects of planning and construction projects; Performing any other tasks or coordinating other projects related to the sustainable development of communities. It is currently seeking a professional and autonomous candidate to work in the capacity of: DIRECTOR MUNICIPAL PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT (Permanent full-time, position) Reporting to the office of the Director General of the KRG, the Director of the Municipal Public Works department oversees the carrying out of civil engineering and construction projects, the implementation of infrastructure programs for the northern villages in particular regarding drinking water and wastewater treatment, landfills, roads and buildings, as well as the maintenance and operation of the KRG building inventory. The KRG is currently seeking a candidate with a strong sense of leadership to work in Kuujjuaq in the capacity of: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR GENERAL (Permanent, full-time position) Reporting to the Director General, the Assistant Director General assists the Director General in coordinating and managing the operational affairs of the KRG and in suggesting orientations to foster the development of the organization and its services.     The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The KRG is currently seeking to recruit a professional candidate with strong communication skills to work in the capacity of: FIRE SERVICE INSTRUCTOR (Rotation, Permanent) Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator and in collaboration with the Firefighter Training Officer and the École Nationale des Pompiers du Quebec (ÉNPQ), the Fire Service Instructor will facilitate various firefighter related courses, leading to the NFPA 1001 and Firefighter 1 certification of volunteers firefighters as well as any other training deemed necessary by the Civil Security Department. More specifically, the Fire Service Instructor is responsible for the following: Lead and facilitate training for Nunavik’s volunteer firefighters, such as NFPA Firefighter 1001 Level 1 & 2 /, auto-extrication, etc. Develop strong working relationships with community Fire Chiefs. Assist in the development and the implementation of a regional recruitment campaign for volunteer firefighters. In collaboration with the Firefighter Training Officer plan, schedule and organize required training courses for all 14 Ensure the use and adaptation of ENPQ required pedagogical and didactic Ensure that the training facilities in Kuujjuaq are kept in good working Assist in revising funding reports and budget follow-ups as Required qualifications: Certified firefighting instructor by the ENPQ (IFSAC/Pro Board NFPA 1001, Firefighter 1, NFPA 1041). Minimum of three (3) years of relevant Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Strong oral and written communication skills in English and French; knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset.   • The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the Quebec territory located north of the 55th parallel. The role of the KRG Civil Security Department (CS) is to increase awareness of the importance of emergency preparedness in the communities and support related activities. In particular, the Section works closely with the 14 northern villages to strengthen planning, human and physical resources for fire safety and search and rescue operations. For the purpose of executing this mandate, KRG is currently looking for a person to fill the following position: Public Safety & Fire Prevention Technician (Permanent / Rotational) Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator, the Public Safety & Fire Prevention Technician is responsible for the following duties: Develop, promote and deliver public safety and fire prevention programs to the communities; Educate, promote, interpret and enforce applicable fire safety codes and legislation; Verify the inspection and testing of fire protection systems in public buildings and major occupancies; Conduct fire investigations and prepare and maintain related reports; Elaborate, in collaboration with municipal fire brigades, intervention plans for different buildings as demanded by the Nunavik Fire Safety Cover plan; Participate in the development of municipal or regional emergency response plans, Provide technical support and training for municipal firefighters; Perform any other related duties as required. The selected candidate must : Possess post secondary education in Fire Prevention (AEC) or have IFSAC Pro Board Certifications Have a minimum of two years related experience; Have the ability to interpret building plans and understand construction details; Have an in depth knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and a good understanding of relevant computer software applications; Possess excellent communication and presentation skills and commitment to customer service excellence; Membership in Quebec Association or Fire Prevention Technician (ATPIQ) will be considered an asset; Have the ability to communicate orally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English and French; Be willing to travel frequently in Nunavik; Work schedule and place of work: 6-3 rotation schedule: 6 weeks working in the Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 3 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly) OR Work schedule and place of work: 4-2 rotation schedule: 4 weeks working in the Northern Villages, followed by 2 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly); Place of employment: Nunavik, Quebec Salary: Min. $60, 074 - Max. $102, 839 a year Benefits*: Lodging paid while working in the northern villages; Meals and expenses paid while travelling in Nunavik; Group benefits including Simplified Pension Plan; Vacation: 20 days/year; Statutory holidays: 20 days including 10 during Christmas holidays.
