Job Summary:Ainsworth is currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator, to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta. The role will be responsible for estimating plumbing, mechanical hydronic systems, and sheet metal services. The majority of our estimating focuses on renovations, retrofits, equipment replacement and new construction in the commercial, institutional, and light industrial markets. The expectations is that you can work independently managing all aspects of an estimate from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:Review prints and project specifications for estimating purposesUnderstanding of mechanical drawings for estimating and pricingAssemble detailed and accurate quality take-offs and cost estimatesDevelop project material budgeting by gathering costs for the various items needed to complete the projectObtaining equipment and sub contractor pricingPreparing final estimate for reviewVisiting job sites for estimating purposes and reviews of estimates on actual jobsPreparing change orders, following up on them and processing them once acceptedAbility to manage and execute multiple tenders at the same time

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Senior Electrical Estimator will be responsible for responding to tenders, bid request or Requests for Quotation (RFQs) in the commercial and institutional market by developing accurate, complete and competitive estimates. These tenders, bids will be for TI’s (Tenant Improvement). The Electrical Estimator will review estimates with the Project Manager(s), Service Manager(s) and/or Foreman assigned to the opportunity, as well as on occasion the Regional Director. Works with and serves PM’s and SM’s from various departments within Ainsworth.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting a thorough review of specifications and drawings.Developing thorough material take-offs and labour take-offs.Coordinating price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding tenders/bid requests.Review of the estimate with the Project Manager(s), Service Managers and/or Foreman to ensure all in agreement with labour, material, equipment and subcontracting costs.Preparing tenders by quantifying, organizing and tabulating all material, equipment, labour, and subcontract costs needed to complete the project.Liaise with Procurement to assist in the obtaining pricing on aspects of the estimateParticipating in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings with the Regional Manager, Project Manager, Service Manager and Purchasing when and where required.Provide guidance on opportunities that come in, on viability, possibility of winning, possibility of extras, possible risks, etc. to help guide the team on the best prospects to chase.Prepare risk review for the PM and/or SM to assist in the collaborative review of the prepared estimate.Providing assistance to the sales force in developing proposals may be required.Review tender closing documents and obtain signed/sealed, bonding/insurance certificates, etc.Track all bids, proposals in excel sheet and submit to Project Admin for entry into the CRM Tool.Utilize estimating software in the estimating function. Work to enhance it, streamline, improve, etc. with the software provider in its functioning for Ainsworth.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 - 8 years estimating experience in a trade background or degree/diploma in electrical engineering or technology.Experience producing design build proposals / estimates.Proficiency with ACU-BID (estimation software).Trade Certificate would be a great asset.Excellent analytical and organizational skills.Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal, is essential.Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
