If you see something that needs attention, even garbage on the floor, you step in safely and professionally to take care of it because every action helps support patient care. We'll train you to safely clean and disinfect our healthcare buildings. Environmental Services staff follow cleaning and disinfecting protocols while cleaning surfaces and patient equipment in assigned areas such as patient rooms, treatment rooms, emergency and operating rooms, washrooms, offices, and corridors. Duties include cleanup of blood and body fluids, washing walls, using ladders/step stools to change privacy curtains, routine floor care with mops, scrubbers, and buffers, and removing waste such as garbage, biomedical, and recycling to designated holding areas. Staff must wear personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection for long periods while working safely and following protocols. Work is completed with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment that can sometimes be stressful. Environmental Services staff must remain kind, approachable, and professional when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare staff, providing excellent customer service.
