    We are looking for Mechanical Design Engineers with a strong background in Industrial Automation tooling design and proficiency in 3D modeling software for optimizing tooling and machinery for high-speed assembly lines.     Location: Hamilton and Niagara Fall region (Hybrid)
    Reporting to the Methods & Special Tooling Leader, the tooling design engineer is involved in the design of installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling and lifting tools. Participate in the design of specialized tools related to recent major projects or being submitted.
    Roles and Responsibilities Analyze the technical information (technical specifications, scope of work, division of work); Responsible for the design of the site's special tooling for site assembly in accordance with site planning and budget considering the EHS aspect; Plan the tooling design phase , follow-up and coordination with the project team; Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure design is consistent with site installation methods; Optimization of the tooling design or the machine to improve and reduce site installation time; Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings; Write reports and engineering documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals; Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of the site teams; Validate the costing of procedures & tooling during the tendering phase with other members of the Construction & Commissioning team; Responsible of the deliverables and budgets for their projects.

    Job Description: Perform technical and engineering tasks to define application databases for software subsystems. Analyses and simulations are conducted as necessary to determine design feasibility and driving requirements. Prepare specialized signaling design skills Provide software groups with project application data for the guideway, signaling plan, crossing coordinates, track maps, and guideway database. Ensure that the signaling design is implemented in accordance with applicable signaling standards and principles. Analyze train characteristics and safety requirements to define the safe braking model. Convert customer requirements (internal and/or external) into concepts and prepare associated documentation by conducting operational analyses, simulations, and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional characteristics. Create new concepts or modify existing concepts to meet customer requirements. Preparing system, subsystem, and interface requirements specifications by analyzing and decomposing modeling, refining customer requirements, and typical train control domain requirements. Prepare and support bids and proposals, including evaluating compliance with customer requirements, gap analysis, architecture design, simulation, key feature arbitration, estimation, etc. Present technical design and reports to customers and/or other engineering/management groups in clear, complete, concise, and unambiguous terms. Propose updates to processes and standards covering work and its products based on knowledge of systems engineering and/or technical specialty. Operational design limits are evaluated and defined; performance analyses and simulations are developed and conducted in support of the above. Ensure interface and establish strong working relationships with software, hardware, and IVVQ groups to ensure timely analysis and resolution of internal issues and field test issues. Mentor junior signaling engineers, explaining how and what to prepare, and reviewing their work. Contribute to the estimation and description of work packages based on knowledge of work and project requirements.
    Candidate requirements: Degree in engineering (systems, electrical, computer), computer science, or a closely related field. 4 to 10 years of experience in developing software-based system applications. Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods, and tools. Knowledge of the system development lifecycle. Intermediate expertise in URS systems (urban rail signaling): at least 5 years of experience in similarly complex systems - intermediate level of specialized technical skills in the CBTC (communication-based train control) domain.
