JOB SUMMARY
In accordance with applicable corporate policies, provincial legislation, standards and regulations, and the College of Nurses, the Float Wellness Support Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to residents with an emphasis on resident safety and engagement in the assigned Residence. The Float Wellness Support Nurse will work in a direct-care clinical capacity as a wellness nurse at Amica residences primarily on Vancouver Island. Reporting to the Director of Wellness when within a residence, the Float Wellness Support Nurse's role is centered on direct clinical care. Assignment to a residence in the lower mainland is possible in the event that there is no need on Vancouver Island. Should there be no need on Vancouver Island, the Float Wellness Support Nurse will be assigned other duties based on operational needs.
KEY DUTIES
Provides nursing care to residents, develops, evaluates and modifies support plans, participates in care planning and works collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver resident-centred care by:
Functionally supervises Resident Care Partners to ensure that resident care requirements are being met by:.
Contributes to the resolution of infection control and health and safety issues.
Collaboratively works with other departments to ensure wellness standards are maintained and resident safety is prioritized.
Keeps the residence Director of Wellness promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
Ensures that work is carried out in accordance with applicable environmental, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures and all other Ministry of Health and wellness legislation and standards, policies and procedures relevant to the work.
Performs other related duties consistent with the duties outlined above as assigned.
HOW Do I Qualify?
Education:
Licensed Practical Nursing diploma from a recognized and accredited college
License/Designation:
Member in good standing with a current registration with the College of Nurses in the province of jurisdiction
Medication Administration certification
First Aid and CPR certified
Experience:
Three (3) years experience as a LPN in a health care environment
Knowledge:
Skills associated with geriatric-gerontology practices
Principles of activation and rehabilitation in gerontological nursing
Needs of retirement care residents and the aging process
Infection control guidelines
Medication administration standards
