Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Construction Site Supervisor to join our team in Ontario. The successful candidate will support our construction projects across the province. They must possess solid leadership, organizational, planning, and communication skills to effectively manage the dynamic work environment. The candidate may be required to report to the Arcadis Office if needed by the project team but will typically work remotely when there are no site activities or be on-site supervising and directing project scopes in the field.
Role accountabilities
As an Environmental Construction Site Supervisor, you will work within the Arcadis Construction Services group supporting projects related to environmental remediation and decommissioning. This position requires a minimum of 90% travel. The role demands a knowledgeable and experienced leader to execute work in the field, providing industry expertise related to Health and Safety, Construction Operations, Planning/Scheduling, Environmental Regulatory Requirements, and Contract & Personnel Management.
The individual must work positively and collaboratively with the Arcadis Construction Project team, including Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Estimators, Safety Officers, Engineers, and other stakeholders such as client representatives, suppliers, and subtrade supervisors/field workers.
Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing project site planning and organization of subcontractors, Arcadis crews, and other project stakeholders, ensuring all Arcadis Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are implemented and enforced. This also involves leading daily operations meetings. The Supervisor is responsible for assessing, adjusting, and re-assessing operations daily to ensure effective and efficient resource use on-site, and communicating additional needs and solutions to the project team.
Contract and scope management, in collaboration with the Project Manager, is also a responsibility of the Site Supervisor. This includes understanding the contract, divided scopes, and managing change to ensure that change orders and scope creep are identified and managed appropriately. Additionally, the Supervisor must manage all required paperwork on-site to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and Arcadis policies (e.g., Site Supervisor Reports, Morning Tailgates, Safety Talks, Equipment Inspections).
Key Attributes
Ability to read and understand Construction Drawings and Specifications, comprehensive understanding of construction scheduling, contracts, quality control, engineering principles, and safety regulations
In-depth knowledge of construction safety best practices and experience enforcing strict health and safety procedures on-site
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and provide effective solutions; strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to coordinate and execute multiple scopes of work
Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance and instruction to a large site team

The successful candidate will have experience in Environmental Construction preferred (Heavy Civil Remediation/Demo-Abatement); experience on mining, and oil and gas sites is an asset. The required candidate will have experience with soil remediations, landfill construction experience.
They will have the ability to use Site Docs Safety Management Software, First Aid Certification and Valid Construction Certifications: WAH, Confined Space, Asbestos Awareness, AWP License, Traffic Control, Propane Certificate, IHSA Basics of Supervisor, Joint Health and Safety Cert 1 & 2, TSSA License.
