I am delighted to be supporting a leading Emergency & Referral Veterinary Hospital in Halifax as they seek an experienced General Manager to lead their large, multi-disciplinary team.
This is a rare opportunity for a senior veterinary professional, (Critical Care or Internal Medicine experience strongly preferred), to step into a high-impact, non-clinical leadership role within one of Atlantic Canada’s most respected referral centres.
This is not a traditional practice management position. The hospital is a busy, 24/7 emergency and referral facility with a strong team of Specialists, ER clinicians, RVTs, and dedicated support staff. The successful candidate will oversee the operational, financial, and strategic direction of the hospital, working closely with the Medical Director and department leads to ensure excellence across patient care, client experience, and team engagement. Experience leading within a large Emergency & Referral setting, and confidence collaborating with boarded specialists is essential.
The role carries full P&L responsibility, including labour management, cost control, KPI tracking, strategic growth planning, and expansion of clinical services. At the same time, you will play a key part in cultivating an exceptional workplace culture, supporting mentorship, continuing education, leadership development, and retention within a highly skilled clinical team.
Compensation includes a base salary of $120,000–$150,000, plus up to 20% performance-based bonus, alongside one of the most comprehensive benefits packages in the Canadian veterinary sector. Relocation and full immigration support are available for the right candidate.
