The Opportunity The insurance industry is undergoing a technology transformation, and you will be at the forefront with our Pricing Transformation team. This team is focused on accelerating Aviva’s pricing sophistication in collaboration with our Data Science and Personal Insurance Pricing teams. As a Senior Actuarial Manager in Technical Pricing, you will be a product owner of our pricing models and be responsible for safeguarding the entire lifecycle of personal lines pricing models ideation, execution and monitoring, bringing a rigorous technical approach to model design, development, and application. Your role will emphasize advanced modeling techniques, precise data preparation, and well‑found assumptions. You will ensure that each model is built on a foundation of quality data and sound methodologies, with results that directly inform pricing decisions and align with Aviva’s strategic goals. What You’ll Do Ensure appropriate statistical and machine learning techniques are selected with a focus on technical accuracy. Ensure model assumptions are grounded in both data science principles and business relevance. Ability to align model design and outputs with business goals for personal lines pricing. Translate technical results into strategic recommendations and actionable insights for stakeholders. Responsible for model risk management, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation. Proactively address potential biases and inconsistencies in data and modeling assumptions. Evaluate model performance and assumptions, interpreting outputs, and proactively reviewing model methodological soundness. Establish strict data validation procedures to safeguard the integrity of model inputs. Address inconsistencies, incompleteness, or unreasonableness in data. Apply sound judgment to balance pace and perfection in data validation, transformation, feature engineering process. Develop and validate assumptions underlying the models, with documentation that explains their relevance to personal lines insurance. Regularly revisit these assumptions to ensure they remain appropriate given new data or business conditions. Rigorously analyze model outputs to confirm that they align with expected pricing strategies and objectives. Translate model results into actionable insights, helping to drive informed pricing decisions that support Aviva’s strategic goals. Create and maintain detailed guidelines for the interpretation of model results. Work closely with pricing teams to ensure correct and consistent use of model outputs in decision‑making processes. Ensure stakeholders understand model limitations and assumptions to make well‑informed decisions. Continuously monitor model performance to report to stakeholders data drift, changes in underlying trends, or degradation in predictive accuracy. Lead recalibration and updating efforts to adapt models to evolving market conditions and data landscapes. Lead project and stakeholder management in cross‑functional projects, coordinating with technical teams, and building strong relationships with business stakeholders. Manage multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Effectively onboard model users on the correct application of model outputs, emphasizing the importance of understanding model assumptions and limitations. Focus on supporting accurate usage and driving informed business decisions. What You’ll Bring 7+ years of P&C actuarial experience. Deep understanding of P&C pricing, including rating processes, algorithms, and system considerations. Strong knowledge or experience in modeling projects, including scoping, model development, model performance validation, or implementation. Proficiency in Python, SAS, or SQL for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is an asset. Stay informed on industry developments and emerging trends, demonstrating a continuous learning mindset and curiosity. Resourcefulness and ability to be highly independent. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong stakeholder management and ability to understand business priorities.
