    We are seeking an experienced Safety and Environmental Manager to join our team in shaping our next chapter. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of environment, health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. They will also support the development of employees' skills and knowledge in environmental and safety best practices.
    The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in occupational health and safety or environment and have experience in implementing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. They should be familiar with regulations, theories, and case law related to safety and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    The role reports directly to the plant manager and requires collaboration with site leadership teams and other stakeholders across Canada. The selected candidate will have opportunities for professional growth and development within the organization.
    The Attributes We Are Looking For:
    • Implement an environment, health and safety management system based on ISO 14001, ISO45001, and internal requirements. • Support safety leadership development and act as a coach on behavior-based programs.
    • Manage EHS coordinators and/or interns as needed and work closely with the corporate EHS team. • Support the implementation of Lactalis Canada's EHS roadmap through the EHS playbook execution with the involvement of site leadership and element leaders. Facilitate the site EHS management committee to discuss initiatives, review performance and action plans.
    • Ensure the site maintains up-to-date environment operating permits and link with third parties as needed. • Collaborate with the site team to complete annual reviews of Health, Safety, and Environment programs and advise on EHS site-specific plans. Gather and present information such as data on accident history, audit results/findings, and maintain information in the EHS database.
    • Oversee incident reporting and investigation processes and facilitate root cause analysis and the development of effective action plans for incidents as needed. • Advise on CAPEX projects and conduct reviews to ensure EHS aspects are integrated into the scope of work.
    • Review and follow up with site leadership to ensure corporate programs are implemented and action plans are executed. • Prepare and conduct periodic occupational health and safety site audits and ensure all corrective actions are executed. Prepare EHS performance reports, present to site leadership teams, and provide recommendations.
    • Supports the delivery of selected EHS training. • Conduct regulation follow-up, analysis, and work with the site to ensure compliance. Oversee wastewater treatment plant performance and provide guidance to address non-compliances.
    • Act as the facility's primary contact for all environmental and OHS regulatory officials (Federal, Provincial, Municipal).
