    Job Description: The Role The Production Manager must ensure that goods and services are produced efficiently; that they are of the right quality, quantity, and cost; and that they are produced on time, to the satisfaction of our internal and external customers. The scope of the job includes process production and batch production using LEAN concepts to ensure waste elimination. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of directly related experience Project management skills Leadership and interpersonal skills Experience with LEAN manufacturing and its concepts Experience working with a unionized work force The successful candidate must also be able to handle responsibility and the pressure of meeting deadlines. Must be authorized to work in Canada Must have valid Canada Driver’s License Responsibilities The production manager is involved with the planning, coordination and control of industrial processes and also responsible for both human and material resources. The role will be involved in both the pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (control and supervision) stage. A large part of production management involves dealing with people, particularly those who work in your team. The role is involved with product design and purchasing. In this position you will have to make many of the decisions yourself, but in the organization work with production planners, controllers, production engineers and production supervisors who will assist you on a day-to-day basis. Typical work activities include: Communicate and implement change as directed Lead a unionized environment Health and safety compliance in accordance with company policy Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior. Establish, maintain and promote high standards of customer service. Experience working within policies and procedures and understanding of compliance. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures and practices. Supervision of all staff under your direct or indirect control. Administration duties as required to ensure daily KPI performance is achieved. All resources are utilized efficiently. Train and monitor staff in standard operating procedures (SOP) and safe work practices, including new employee inductions and toolbox talks. Continuously monitor the performance and activities of the manufacturing process through the use of KPIs, with a primary focus on capacity utilization Implement and maintain Lean Principles Develop the production team towards becoming autonomous Kaizen teams – capable of maintaining and improving their process daily Standardize and sustain the lean organization structure for production team through Tier Meetings, Team Boards, Standard Work, Visual Controls & Gemba Walk Follow the Standard Work for Production Manager and set an example for Supervisors to react quickly to alerts signaled by the team members and implement necessary improvements for KPI deviations Use of A3 Report and Problem-Solving tools to manage the cost-savings and downtime reduction projects as part of plant’s overall strategy in improving the value delivered to customers Ensure the strategic projects identified are executed such as cellular layout, plant leveling, lead time reduction. Boart Longyear is looking to hire a Shop Supervisor in Saskatoon, SK. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficient operations of facilities and equipment, including managing staff, scheduling work, and ensuring safety compliance. Position Responsibilities Creating a work environment that is respectful, open, appreciative, and values each person. Develop weekly schedule for the Saskatoon shop workload. Oversees all repairs and maintenance on a standard work-order system for the Saskatoon shop. Responsible to help develop the preventative maintenance program with the Regional Coordinator.
