The Opportunity Build and expand your practical knowledge through working in a live environment at one of Canada’s largest independent oil and gas producers. This student opportunity is a 4-month term from May to August, located at one of Canadian Natural’s Western Canadian Operations. As a Relief Operator Summer Student (ROSS), you will gain a learning experience and exposure to a wide range of oil and gas operating systems. Work outdoors for the summer alongside experienced industry professionals on light oil, heavy oil, gas plants, oil batteries, water floods, and/or pump jacks. Responsibilities Be part of frontline driven safety culture by completing hazard assessments, worksite safety observations, and identifying and correcting hazards and opportunities Utilize hands-on mechanical aptitude to solve daily problems to increase and maintain production volumes Be responsible for light oil, heavy oil, gas, gas plants, and/or oil batteries Work with water floods, EOR, pump jacks, and PC pumps Perform well testing techniques and production reporting Qualifications Currently enrolled in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an engineering degree program (Chemical, Mechanical, Energy, and Petroleum/Oil & Gas disciplines preferred) Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out-of-province license and be comfortable driving a half-ton work truck safely Strong mechanical aptitude What We Offer Competitive salary Relocation assistance may be available under Canadian Natural’s Student Relocation Policy (students responsible for finding accommodations during the term) Safety boot allowance Safety training certifications and PPE covered Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Term length: 4 Months • Term start: May 2026 (Mandatory Safety Training Week: May 4-8, 2026).     Key Accountabilities
    Apply engineering principles to develop solutions to support projects at varying stages of the project life cycle for our oil sands assets Conduct small change management, from initial scoping to close-out, using Canadian Natural’s Management of Change Process (MOC), which includes design development, drawing updates, process hazard assessments, and close-out report writing Encourage safety awareness within your projects and actively promote safety in engineering/ design in compliance with Canadian Natural standards and specifications Work with various teams on constructability, operability and reliability focused improvements and initiatives Participate in team meetings to ensure alignment of goals and priorities as well as liaise with the multi-discipline engineering team members
    What You Bring To The Role
    Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Engineering or within one year of graduation (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Civil-Structural, Electrical or Energy disciplines preferred) Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license

The Opportunity Geotechnical engineers are responsible for the design, construction, operation, monitoring, reclamation and closure of mining earth structures such as tailings dams, pit walls and dumps. They look after the instrumentation monitoring equipment and data, inspect construction, and support operations to make sure the structures are being constructed, operated and maintained safely and effectively. They also liaise with consultants and other professionals that are involved with their facilities. As a Geotechnical Engineering Student, you will have the opportunity to support the Geotechnical team who are responsible for the in-house design, analyses and surveillance of the mining structures including fluid retaining structures (tailings dams), earth fill waste dumps, reclamation stockpiles, roads, and mine pit walls. You may also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in our dynamic tailings closure and reclamation team.     We are hiring for both Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Students within our Major Projects team, where you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of Electrical or Instrumentation engineering principals and gain valuable hands-on experience by solving engineering and design problems for our world-class mining operations. You will be assisting Engineering team members in the Major Projects group in either Ore Processing, Tailings, or Froth Treatment.     What You Bring To The Role

    Key Accountabilities
    Participate in risk reviews and support engineering assessments for new and existing risks Review and track Key Performance Indicators to ensure operating assets are being run and maintained Provide process safety and integrity support to ongoing operation, maintenance and new projects Participate and perform failure analysis of failed components Provide recommendations for repair and develop mitigation strategies
    What You Bring To The Role
    Currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree program in Chemical engineering preferred Required to be physically and mentally fit for work. Responsible attitude towards safety, demonstrate leadership and enjoy problem solving Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract A pre-employment drug screening test must be successfully completed
