They are seeking an experienced and skilled Business Development lead to spearhead their growth initiatives. Your new role In this newly appointed position, your primary responsibility will encompass formulating and implementing comprehensive business development strategies. This entails spearheading the identification of opportunities, crafting pitches, and managing client responses. Collaborating closely with Sector and Practice Leaders as well as client team leaders, you'll play a pivotal role in devising annual business development strategies, plans, and tactics. They are currently seeking a senior lawyer with 10+ years of relevant experience to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group. Your new role In this new role you will prepare and prosecute Canadian patent and industrial design applications with a focus on mechanical and electrical fields; communicate with clients and CIPO on matters including preparing, filing and prosecution of patent and industrial design applications; oversee maintenance of issued patents, including monitoring deadlines and overseeing payment of maintenance fees; provide patent infringement and validity opinions; manage deadlines and client requests. What you will need to succeed To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 10 years relevant experience. In this new role you must be able to work independently or under the direction of senior lawyers as part of an established and growing team. You must have a law degree and be a registered Canadian Patent Agent. Preference will be given to those who have a B.Eng. degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or several years of experience prosecuting patents in these areas. Likewise, candidates who have a portable practice are at an advantage. You must have strong analytical, drafting and file management skills, be a team player willing to jump into the role that is needed in the circumstances and have the demonstrated ability to assume carriage of files and resolve issues independently.
