Position Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team at Corebuild Construction Ltd. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects, including commercial, residential, and institutional builds. This role requires strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.Develop quantity take-offs using estimating software and manual methods.Prepare bid packages and proposals for tender submissions.Identify and calculate general expenses and provide recommendations on fees and margins.Analyze project risks and opportunities, recommending strategies to strengthen competitiveness.Provide input on preliminary construction schedule at tender stage.Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for site grading and excavation using advanced estimating software.Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand project scope and requirements.Maintain and update historical cost data and unit pricing.Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and value engineering exercises.Identify cost-saving opportunities and risk factors.Track and report on bid outcomes and market competitiveness.Identify and calculate general expenses and provide recommendations on fees and margins.\Analyze project risks and opportunities, recommending strategies to strengthen competitiveness. Provide input on preliminary construction schedule at tender stage.Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for site grading and excavation using advanced estimating software. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONSPost-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.3+ years of experience in estimating within a general contracting environment.Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).Experience in Earthwork (site grading/cut&fill) software (Agtek) considered a strong asset. Proven expertise in estimating techniques, tendering procedures and contract negotiations. Strong proficiency in critical thinking, problem solving and mathematical skills.Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.Strong communication and negotiation abilities.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Attention to detail and organizational skills. Proven expertise in estimating techniques, tendering procedures, and contract negotiations.Strong proficiency in critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical skills. COMPENSATION:Expected compensation for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 annually.
