    GHD has a great opportunity for a Senior Environmental Remediation Design Engineer in a Project Engineering Design and Construction role, with a specialization in contaminated sites to support our North American team! Our hiring team, based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario, specializes in environmental assessments, risk assessments, risk management planning and implementation, and remedial design and implementation for public and private sector clients across Canada and the US.     Responsibilities
    Support of strategic pursuits, focused on federal sector and private industrial clients. Provide senior leadership and mentorship with respect to the completion of environmental remediation projects. Work within multi-disciplinary project teams, providing environmental advice to other GHD teams. Remain current on standard methodologies for innovative remediation approaches. Manage design projects including project teams, budgets, timelines, and deliverables. Manage the development and review of technical environmental reports, drawings, and specifications. Opportunity to work on local, national, and global projects, which may at times entail supporting other GHD office locations requiring some travel. Support and mentor junior team members in a learning and collaborative atmosphere. Needs Assessment: Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, and key stakeholders, as well as related issues. Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing business practices, then suggest and implement improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization's change management program. Involves working with guidance from senior colleagues. Culture of Innovation: Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity, innovation, and collaboration across business units, such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons. Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards. Engineering Standards Specification: Analyze information, draft engineering standards and specifications, and evaluate the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to ensure work of the required quality is delivered and to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants. Knowledge Management: Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in a particular area of expertise and to support the practice. Health, Safety, and Environment: Monitor and review performance against health, safety, and environment (HSE) key performance indicators (KPIs) and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility. Take action to improve performance and to resolve noncompliance with the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions. Technical Developments Recommendation: Discuss and recommend more complex or innovative technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/application software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs. Professional Supervision: Lead and oversee the provision of professional supervision to ensure that there is effective professional supervision that supports practitioners' professional development and embeds reflective practice. Feasibility Studies: Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure. Waste Management: Manage specific segments of waste management, involving waste reduction programs, waste segregation, compliance, storage, transport, and disposal. Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues. Client & Customer Management (External): Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues, or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
    Education
    Master's Degree or Equivalent Level an asset A Bachelor's in Civil or Environmental Engineering required
    Experience
    General Experience: Wide and deep experience providing expert competence (Over 10 years to 15 years) Managerial Experience: Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes (13 months to 3 years) 15+ years-experience Accredited Professional Engineer in Canada or the US Possession of P.Eng. designation to be used to stamp/certify designs. P.E. designation considered an asset. Experience with developing and implementing strategies for complex remediation and/or risk management. Experience in the technical delivery of investigations, designs including drawings and specifications and construction support for environmental remediation projects in Canada and the US Experience and desire to provide high profile clients with responsive and innovative solutions. Experience working on Canadian and/or US Federal projects is considered an asset. Proven experience in client advocacy while developing trusted relationships with regulators. Strong understanding of Canadian (including Ontario) environmental legislation Understanding of US environmental legislation considered an asset.     Education

    Experience
    General Experience: Substantial general Minimum of 15 years of experience involved in the design and implementation of MV and LV electrical systems as well as solid understanding of field instrumentation. Managerial Experience: Experience with supervising small electrical teams and development of Junior staff. Demonstrated experience working on healthcare, commercial, residential and municipal projects and pursuits. Experience with managing client relations, scope changes, schedule and budgets, tight deadlines while delivering multiple mid to small sized engineering projects. Excellent knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations. Understanding of MV and LV power distribution design concepts, equipment and personnel safety strategies and electrical system protection theories and applications. Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and continual diligence to follow-up. Ability to exercise sound judgment Self-motivated, with strong desire to learn. Well organized, able to multi-task and work in fast paced changing and challenging environments. Strong organizational, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Be a part of multi-functional teams with the ability to relate well and cooperate with other members of the team, to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
