Reporting to the Director, Tri-city, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing overall administrative and technical expertise required support to a large-scale construction project.
Primary Scope of Role :
Assist the Superintendent in managing work on-site to ensure the compliance of construction with the drawings and specifications. Support the Superintendent in planning and implementing schedules, determining manpower levels, material quantities, inspections, equipment, and requirements are maintained. Monitor work performance to ensure project rules, procedures, and safety requirements are being followed. Advise the Superintendent and Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties and assist in resolving these problems. Maintain and analyze up-to-date cost reports and submit necessary changes to ensure the project is delivered within budget. Meet with Owners, Consultants, and Architects in a professional manner and can communicate effectively both the concerns and best interests of the company. Monitor project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, equipment maintenance, safety and quality control. Interface with project team, subcontractors and related third parties. Monitor and inspect project sites to maintain a safe work environment and provide leadership to ensure policies, procedures and standards are followed.
Position Requirements :
A EIT or CET designation is preferred. 2 years of construction experience desired. Sewer/Watermain experience preferred. Knowledge of MTO traffic standards. Experience on MTO road construction projects is desired. Valid G Driver’s License (Company vehicle to be provided). Exposure to all aspects of road building. What does your day at GIP look like? Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Lead Planner will be responsible for providing guidance and support to the Operations teams in the estimating and planning of various Contracts. Key responsibilities will include: Plan and establish milestones for projects. Review project work activities to ensure support of project milestones. With the support of the project team, develop and maintain resource loaded project schedules for multi-year projects in Primavera P6 from proposals, contract documents and estimates with attention to details including critical path analysis and constructability. Gather and interpret project data from both internal and external sources. Provide planning and scheduling support for various crews/teams by suggesting the most appropriate period or season to execute works in while minimizing impacts on the environment. Identify schedule considerations and problems resulting from interdisciplinary or group restraints and interfaces. Review the performing spreads’ work logic and determine adequacy of schedules in support of overall project schedule. Assist the monitoring, reviewing, and analysis of the schedule and status during all phases of the project, including the analysis of any schedule deviations and corrective actions. Analyze subcontractors' schedules, while forecasting and trending completion target dates to ensure contractor plans are realistic and achievable. Report deviations accordingly. Maintain schedule forecast throughout the project life cycle by verifying schedules are properly updated and linked to the master schedules if prepared by outside parties. Plan, perform and support resource loading and leveling. Work closely with the Project Teams to align project baseline schedules with baseline budget for all direct and indirect accounts and activities, identify trends and schedule impacts. Develop cash curves based on control estimates and project schedules for cash forecasting. Monitor and report critical path and schedule performance of the total project. Assist with project schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule and seek the advice of the Project Manager. Review or assist in reviewing proposal provisions related to schedule and develop supporting data for contract negotiations. Provide the Project Team with timely, informed, and up-to-date project schedule information including trends and forecasts as well as progress, schedule and planning input to the weekly, Bi-weekly and monthly project reports.

Reporting to the Project Manager and/or Sr. Project Coordinator, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for assisting organizing crews and equipment, supervising installations, and keep records of such activities. He/she will provide the controls and mechanisms necessary to support effective communications, as well as ensure a safe working environment. He/she is responsible for the facilitated control of the site and all employees and contractors upon the site.
Job Duties • Assist the Project Superintendent in Managing and coordinating on-site operations; • Assist in establishing and monitoring construction work schedules including “look ahead” schedules • Liaison with General Contractors and Owners; • Communicate operational objectives with the Project Superintendent on a daily basis; • Keep and maintain the daily diary and appropriate records to fulfil the requirements of the contract and provide detailed history of site events and history; • Ensure all works meet contract document requirements and meet or exceed all applicable standards • Ensure compliance with all Federal, Provincial and local laws, particularly applicable Occupational Health & Safety Acts / Construction Safety Act regulations and environmental requirements • Provide input on site operations, in order to increase production or solve problems; • Support the implementation and maintenance of safety plans and tactics; • Ordering site-specific materials and supplies; • Conducting and documenting regular health and safety meetings; • Assist the Project Superintendent in the investigation of any incidents or complaints and preparation of reports; • Responsible for compliance and enforcement of all Company policies and procedures with regards to all employees and contractors; • Work closely and diplomatically with all personnel to maximize overall operational harmony, productivity and efficiency that will ultimately better serve the clients; • Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her Supervisor;

Provide planning and scheduling support for various crews/teams by suggesting the most appropriate period or season to execute works in while minimizing impacts on the environment. Identify schedule considerations and problems resulting from interdisciplinary or group restraints and interfaces. Review the performing spreads' work logic and determine adequacy of schedules in support of overall project schedule. Assist the monitoring, reviewing, and analysis of the schedule and status during all phases of the project, including the analysis of any schedule deviations and corrective actions. Analyze subcontractors' schedules, while forecasting and trending completion target dates to ensure contractor plans are realistic and achievable. Report deviations accordingly. Maintain schedule forecast throughout the project life cycle by verifying schedules are properly updated and linked to the master schedules if prepared by outside parties. Plan, perform and support resource loading and leveling. Work closely with the Project Teams to align project baseline schedules with baseline budget for all direct and indirect accounts and activities, identify trends and schedule impacts. Develop cash curves based on control estimates and project schedules for cash forecasting. Monitor and report critical path and schedule performance of the total project. Assist with project schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule and seek the advice of the Project Manager. Review or assist in reviewing proposal provisions related to schedule and develop supporting data for contract negotiations. Provide the Project Team with timely, informed, and up-to-date project schedule information including trends and forecasts as well as progress, schedule and planning input to the weekly, Bi-weekly and monthly project reports.
Enough about us, let's talk about you. Experience in construction industry for a Transit project 3-5 years in a Planner/Scheduler role. Ability to read, understand and interpret drawings and contracts preferred. Post-secondary education would be considered an asset. Previous scheduling experience would be considered an asset.
