We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with 8+ years of design, management and construction experience in upstream and midstream oil and gas infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings knowledge in site grading, foundations, piles, water storage and containment ponds, with preference for industry knowledge.
This position will be based in our head office in downtown Calgary, Alberta. It requires occasional field trips.
Your main responsibilities
Project Leadership
Oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering components of industrial projects, including oilfield waste management facilities, engineered containment ponds, produced water ponds, hydrovac facilities, lagoons, landfills, water management infrastructure, batteries, tanks, compressor and pumping stations, drill pads and associated works.
Technical Expertise
Collaborate and lead cross‑functional teams including hydrogeologists, geotechnical engineers, biologists, and construction managers.
Provide senior technical support to EITs and juniors for field QA/QC in construction projects (e.g., earthworks, soil QA/QC, piping and geosynthetic containment system installation).
Conduct site assessments and engineering analyses to ensure optimal system performance and innovative design solutions.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all projects adhere to applicable Provincial and Federal Regulations, including AEPA guidelines, Directive 58, Directive 55, Water Act, and Management of Saline Fluid guidelines.
Team Development
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and project teams, fostering growth and maintaining high‑quality work standards.
Collaborate with peers to find creative solutions and add value to clients.
Offer office‑based technical support to EITs and staff for field QA/QC in construction projects.
Quality Assurance
Manage project documentation, design reviews, and approvals, ensuring alignment with professional engineering standards in Alberta.
Problem Solving
Address and resolve technical challenges during project design and execution phases.
Bring practical expertise and creative thinking to deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
What makes you unique
Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical or environmental engineering—or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, focusing on civil earthworks and infrastructure for industrial projects in Alberta, British Columbia, or similar environments.
Experience with civil design and grading of containment ponds, surface water management, reservoirs, landfills, roads, dams, foundations and miscellaneous earth‑fill infrastructure.
Must hold Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and be registered with or immediately eligible to register with APEGA or EGBC.
Demonstrated success in managing complex, multidisciplinary projects with focus on timeliness and budget control.
Strong communication, leadership and problem‑solving abilities, with a collaborative approach to team and stakeholder engagement.
Strong project‑management skills, planning, coordinating and managing projects from concept through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, client expectations and quality standards are met.
Adaptability to a flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
Experience with surface water grading, stormwater design, and wastewater treatment is an asset.

Must be proficient in wood construction projects.
Perform structural site investigations, inspections, reviews, gather data, and prepare technical reports, site review/inspection reports, and compliance letters.
Describe existing structural conditions and provide engineering solutions through Structural Condition Assessments and engineering studies.
Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design of structural elements including concrete, steel, masonry, wood, light-gauge metal, and precast, adhering to the latest applicable building codes and standards.
Manage and generate deliverables (drawings & specifications) for structural projects with accuracy and completeness.
Manage projects to meet schedule and budget targets.
