DESCRIPTION: The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board is funding the ‘CLOSING THE GAP’ TUTOR PROGRAM. This program will continue to provide postsecondary graduates with an opportunity to enhance their educational experience by linking academic learning in a practical environment. Acting as tutors, successful candidates will support students working at level two or students in one of the targeted groups in order to help close gaps in achievement in Literacy and Numeracy. Tutors must be available to work during the school day from end of September and ending May/June.   • Career Opportunity Casual Custodian On-Call External Posting Date of Appointment: To Be Determined Description: The Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board is looking for qualified candidates interested in working as On-Call Casual Custodians. Under the general supervisor of the Manager, Custodial Services, the Custodian will perform a variety of custodial duties to ensure the safety, cleanliness and security of school facilities and grounds. Essential Job Functions: Secure School during evening hours, as required, and prior to leaving at end of shift Maintain walkways and entrance ways, as required; Shovel and salt all entrances and walkways, as required; log as completed Perform visual check of perimeter and interior of school for vandalism and resolve accordingly Follow specified schedules for cleaning responsibilities Participate in summer cleaning program for site Assist with set up and tear down for school/community use functions Pick up garbage in the outdoor playing fields after events Monitor facility rentals, report any damage or non-compliance from user group Participate in the facilitation of the site's recycling program Ensure compliance with WHMIS regulations Operate machinery; buffers, wet/dry vacuums, shampooers, auto scrubbers, snow blowers, etc. Order cleaning supplies and ensure WHIMIS labels and Material Safety Data Sheets are current and in place Ensure all equipment is in safe working order and well maintained Responsible for the orientation of new and/or replacement staff Follow specified schedules for cleaning responsibilities Note: Each building may have architectural anomalies which may require additional duties not mentioned on this list.
