  • Quality Manager

    The Quality Manager plays a crucial part to the success of Hartmann’s North American division by:Understanding customer expectations of and needs of our product and our capabilities.Managing quality complaints and concerns from customers.Developing quality control and assurance processes and specifications.Identifying, investigating, and eliminating product quality issues. Ensuring all materials, processes, and procedures meet regulatory and quality standards, and promptly resolving any issues or discrepancies that may arise.Provide coaching and training to other employees regarding quality issues and changes.Key Activities, included but not limited to:Activity A: Communication and Customer SatisfactionProvide coaching and training to employees on quality management systems, work instructions and checklists.Mentor and train employees on why quality management systems are in place.Conduct regulatory (food safety in packaging) and quality training sessions.Prepare and maintain quality management documentation, assisting with the development of company policies, processes, and procedures.Create standards in accordance with industry standards and customer expectations.Vendor engagement, setting requirements for suppliers, monitor compliance and claims management.Activity B: Testing and AuditingInternal auditing of quality records for accuracy and completeness. Taking action to address any nonconformances.Performing regular inspections and reviews to ensure employees adhere to quality policies and procedures.Assisting with trials within the facility to improve product quality, cost reduction, chemical efficiency. Activity C: Continuous ImprovementAssist the organization with root cause analysis and corrective action development and implementation to address internal and customer related quality complaints.Monitor and report on all activities, processes, and procedures.Make crucial decisions in favor of cost-efficiency without compromising on qualityCore Competencies: Asking the right question Be a team player The art of listening Time management Speak with relevance Think logically as well as creativelyMinimum Qualifications (Education):Minimum of B.S. (Bachelor of Applied Science) in Food Science, Agriculture, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, or related field or a minimum of 5 years of related quality manufacturing experience.ASQ certification is preferred.Previous Experience Required:5+ years experience working with quality systems or in a quality related role.Minimum 5 years of professional manufacturing experience.Food safety in packaging experience is desired.Skills, Abilities & Equipment Operated:Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Proficient in Quality Management Systems and evidence-based decision making.Possess strong communication (both oral and written) and documentation skills and be able to constructively work individually or collaborate within a team environment.Strong client facing skills / relationship management.WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU: Ensuring the well-being of our employees is our priority.   • Production Manager

The demand for moulded fibre and environmentally sustainable products is rapidly increasing. Hartmann has committed and invested in this area to meet the growing demand of our products.
    We require a Production Manager for our Brantford, Ontario location. The Production Manager is accountable for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Hartmann Brantford manufacturing facility. This role provides oversight to Production Supervisors and hourly associates.
    The role operates as a key member of the site leadership team, partnering cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence in a dynamic 24/7 operation. The successful candidate will be expected to:
    Safety Leadership: Ensure compliance with Hartmann Safety Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Act and local regulations. Manage and reinforce in a proactive way safety programs and maintain an exemplary safety record.Quality: Oversee quality control systems, implement change management, track metrics.Operational Excellence: Achieve production targets through efficient resource management and waste reduction. Support the implementation of continuous improvement programs (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, Kaizen) to enhance productivity and reduce costs.People Development & Engagement: Lead and mentor production supervisors and hourly associates, fostering a culture of accountability and collaborationUnion & Associate Relations: Maintain positive labour relations and ensure compliance with the collective agreement. Encourage open communication and engagement to build trust and resolve conflicts constructively. Participate in investigations, discipline processes, and grievance discussions as required.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, HR teams among others to ensure seamless operations. Support asset management initiatives, including preventive maintenance and reliability programs.
    Minimum QualificationsPost-secondary education in Engineering, Business or other related fieldsMust have 5+ years' experience managing supervisory staff and proven leadership in a high-volume manufacturing unionized environment (automotive preferred).Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMPs, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and familiarity with ERP systems.
