  • Senior Procurement Manager  

    - Longueuil

    Procurement Manager (permanent position) – Montreal, QCOur client is seeking a self-motivated Procurement Manager. In this role, you will own the end-to-end supplier and sourcing strategy that keeps our client’s science-backed, product portfolio of more than 75 SKUs on shelves and competitively priced for clinics, coaches, and e-commerce customers. You will also steer the upstream product-pipeline roadmap—partnering with R&D, QA, and Marketing team to ensure supply capability is designed in from concept through commercialization.
    This is a unique role that reports to the Corporate Controller and is housed in the supply chain and product strategy group. Join our client as they begin their growth journey. This is a permanent opportunity in the Montreal, QC area, but can be US-based for someone who wants to travel regularly to the Montreal area for on-site collaboration. The target salary is $120,000 US ($150,000 CA) with other perks. No visa sponsorship, relocation assistance, or subcontracting arrangements are available.
    Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Procurement & Sourcing• Develop and implement a procurement strategy aligned with the client’s growth plans and regulatory requirements in the US and Canada.• Identify, qualify, and contract with suppliers and contract manufacturers for foods, supplements, and packaging.• Diversify the supplier base to reduce risk, secure competitive pricing, and ensure supply reliability.• Monitor market trends, raw material costs, and regulatory changes to anticipate risks and opportunities.Supplier Management & Negotiation• Research and assess potential suppliers in North America, Europe, and Asia, evaluating capabilities, quality assurance, and sustainability practices.• Lead supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and long-term value while protecting product profitability.• Build strong supplier partnerships supported by performance metrics and regular reviews (cost, quality, delivery, compliance).• Conduct supplier evaluations and audits, addressing non-conformities promptly and implementing corrective actions.• Manage procurement of packaging solutions, working with logistics to improve warehousing, transportation, and distribution efficiency while driving sustainable, cost-effective practices.Operational Procurement & Compliance• Oversee day-to-day procurement operations, including purchase orders, supplier onboarding, and compliance checks.• Ensure procurement processes comply with CFR 111, FDA, Health Canada, and other applicable regulations.• Partner with Quality, R&D, and Regulatory teams to guarantee supplier compliance with safety, traceability, and certification standards.• Collaborate with the Scientific Advisory Board and Sales & Marketing to support product development, ensuring specifications, packaging, and branding align with company protocols and consumer expectations.• Develop and manage a comprehensive procurement calendar to support the timely sourcing of ingredients, packaging, and materials.• Establish procurement-specific policies, SOPs, and best practices to drive consistency and efficiency across the function.• Manage export and import processes, ensuring compliance with international shipping requirements and documentation.• Oversee regulatory compliance for cross-border shipments, including FDA, CFIA, and customs requirements.• Research and monitor tariffs and trade regulations to optimize cost efficiency and reduce risks in international trade.• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth cross-border operations.Financial Management & Reporting• Manage procurement budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and working capital objectives.• Provide regular reporting to leadership on supplier risks, opportunities, and savings achieved.• Partner with Finance on forecasting, inventory planning, and spend analysis.Leadership & Team Development• Lead and mentor a high-performing procurement and logistics team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    What You Bring to the Table Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).• 10+ years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, or sourcing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.• Extensive experience in protein-based foods, supplements, and consumer packaged goods• Strong knowledge of regulatory environments (FDA, Health Canada, CFR 111, GMP, HACCP).• Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations, cost savings, and contract management.• Proven ability to operate in a fast-growth, mission-driven environment and to influence cross-functionally up to C-suite and Board.• Excellent analytical, financial-acumen and contract-law skills; advanced Excel/Power BI.• Bilingual (English & French) highly preferred.• Strong analytical, financial, and project management skills.• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building abilities.Ideal Candidate Traits• Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline.• Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable working in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment.• High integrity and commitment to client’s mission of combating obesity and improving health.• Ability to balance cost optimization with uncompromising quality and compliance.
