  • Migration Consultant

    - Vancouver

Title: Technical Program Manager (Jira Migration expert) Client: Highspot Location: Vancouver, CA, working 3 days a week on-site Duration: 3 month contract + extensions Pay Rate: $50-$60/hr Project & Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled, contract-based Technical Project Manager with deep Atlassian expertise to lead a critical business transformation project. We are migrating our product roadmapping and team capacity planning processes from our current tool, Airtable, to the Atlassian suite, with Jira Product Discovery as the new central hub for our product roadmap. This is not a simple "lift and shift" data migration. It is a workflow re-engineering project. Your primary objective is to analyze our current state in Airtable, design a new, integrated workflow within the Atlassian ecosystem (Jira Product Discovery, Jira Software, and potentially Confluence), manage the technical migration, write thorough documentation, and train our teams on the new process. The ideal candidate is a Jira power-user who thinks like a solutions architect and executes with the precision of a project manager. Key Responsibilities Process Design: Review charter and scope documents prepared by department leadership; as-needed, conduct follow-up sessions with subject matter experts. Analyze the function of our current Airtable bases (e.g., how we calculate team capacity, track effort, and visualize roadmaps). Design a new, end-to-end product planning workflow centered in Jira Product Discovery for high-level roadmapping and prioritization. Architect the solution for detailed capacity planning . This will likely involve integrating Jira Product Discovery ideas with Jira Software (Epics, Stories) and leveraging Jira's native capabilities (Story Points, Sprints) or Advanced Roadmaps for team-level resource management. Technical Configuration & Migration: Hands-on configuration of Jira Product Discovery (custom fields, views, formulas, automations, workflows) and corresponding Jira Software projects (workflows, issue types, fields) to support the new process. Define the data model and field mapping between Airtable and the new Jira structure. Manage the data migration process, including data cleanup, CSV export/import, and post-migration validation to ensure data integrity. Partner with IT to provision, configure, and administer Jira / JPD projects. Project Management & Enablement: Develop and manage a detailed project plan with clear milestones, deliverables, and communication cadence. Proactively identify risks (e.g., data loss, scope creep, workflow gaps) and develop mitigation plans. Create clear documentation (e.g., process diagrams, "how-to" guides) for the new workflow. Develop and deliver training sessions for our product managers, engineering managers, and teams to ensure successful adoption of the new tools and processes. Act as the primary technical support contact during the hyper-care period post-launch. Deliverables Required Skills & Qualifications Expert-Level Jira Administrator: Proven, hands-on experience as a Jira Cloud administrator. This is not an on-the-job learning scenario when it comes to Jira. You already know how to configure complex workflows, schemes, custom fields, and permissions; you have extensive experience provisioning users, configuring projects, managing plug-ins and integrations, and performing other advanced-level Jira wizardry. Deep Jira Product Discovery (JPD) Expertise: Demonstrable experience setting up and configuring JPD. You must be able to build custom views (List, Matrix, Timeline), create prioritization frameworks, use formulas, and connect Engineering workflows (in Jira) to Product Management workflows (in JPD). Jira Software & Agile Expertise: Deep understanding of Jira Software for agile teams (Scrum/Kanban), including sprint planning, story points, and backlog grooming. Experience with Jira Advanced Roadmaps is a major plus. Airtable Power-User: You must be highly proficient in Airtable, with the ability to dissect complex bases, understand formulas and linked records, and export data cleanly. Technical Migration Experience: Proven track record of managing complex data migration projects, specifically from spreadsheets, databases, or Airtable into Jira. Process-Oriented Mindset: You are a systems-thinker who can analyze a business process, identify inefficiencies, and design a superior, tool-based solution. Exceptional Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, run effective training sessions, and write clear documentation. Bonus Points (Nice to Have) Advanced AirTable knowledge Atlassian Certified Professional (e.g., ACP-620, ACP-400). Experience integrating Jira with other tools (e.g., Slack, AirTable, MCPs). Experience with other product roadmapping tools (e.g., Productboard, Aha!). Knowledge of a scripting language to help with automations and ETL operations (e.g., Ruby, Python, Bash). Benefits packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law
