**Transit is unreliable and has been an issue in the past with previous caregivers. Unless you live within walking distance or are a VERY short, quick transit trip away (20 mins. or less), a driver's license and a vehicle are necessary for this position.**
A recent copy of your PIC VS is also required.
SE Calgary (Willow Park/Acadia area). Days & hours vary from week to week depending on family members schedules &/or school closures (pro days, teacher's convention, spring break, summer holidays, Christmas, etc). Time off is unpaid.
Shifts may include, but not guaranteed, are Monday through Thursday, 1:00pm - 4:30/5:00pm. 12 - 20 hours per week. Rate is $22.00/hour.
There may be some flexibility with end time, but start time is inflexible. I need to let you in the building before I leave for work and my job does not allow for tardiness. If I leave, you can't get in.
Son is 24 years old, has Autism, is non-aggressive, and talks non-stop. Able to communicate needs, but is mainly echolalic and recites the same things over & over. Mainly lines, or songs from movies.
He is dropped off from his day program between 2:50 & 4:15pm. You would be required to wait the entire time however, Calgary Transit Access *typically* arrives between 3:05 & 3:25pm. He is a 'hand over' which means the driver is required to bring him to the door and obtain a signature from the person they're releasing him to (transfer of care). Once inside, he basically does his own thing. Playing video games or watching TV.
He is capable of getting prepared food out of the fridge and heating it up by himself in the microwave. However, there might be days you would have to cook something quick & easy in the air fryer (chicken strips, mini pizzas, etc).
Other duties may include meal prep (cutting up fruit, veggies, meats*), dishes, tidying kitchen, dusting, &/or vacuuming.
*Not a vegan/vegetarian household. Meal prep may include meat &/or dairy products.
Additional information for your consideration:

We live on the 3rd floor (stairs, no elevator).
We have a bunny, so we have a lot of fur & hay (allergies).
There are cameras throughout the apartment.
Plenty of free street parking in front of the building.
