Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our insurance defence team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal research, drafting, and file management within the context of insurance defence. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a proactive approach to case management, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities: Assist lawyers with all aspects of insurance defence litigation. Prepare and manage legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery notes, preparing Affidavit's of Documents, briefing and summarizing productions. Conduct legal research and gather pertinent case law, statutes, and regulations. Coordinate and manage case files, ensuring all documents are filed accurately and timely. Assist in the preparation for and attendance at trials, hearings, examinations, and mediations. Liaise with clients, witnesses, and experts, maintaining professional and effective communication. Maintain and update document management systems and ensure compliance with firm policies.
Qualifications: A Law Clerk diploma or equivalent legal education. Range of 3-7 years of experience in insurance defence. Strong knowledge of litigation processes and procedures. Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software, preference given to experience with Soluno and NetDocs. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
