  • Keewaytinook Okimakanak Board of Education is looking to hire a full-time Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) to support students in the remote First Nation communities of Keewaywin First Nation, North Spirit Lake First Nation, Poplar Hill First Nation, Deer Lake First Nation and Fort Severn First Nation. Reporting to the Vice Principal, the CDA will work directly with the Speech Language Pathologist to deliver assigned intervention programming to support students’ speech and language needs in kindergarten to grade 12.The CDA will participate in the Speech and Language Team in cooperation with KOBE staff, KO First Nation School Principals and teachers and student families in addressing students’ speech and language needs.
    The CDA will visit community schools and provide 1:1 intervention to students in person and through virtual learning sessions.
    Qualifications and Skills:
    Communicative Disorders Assistant Certificate is preferred Post Secondary diploma Possess an attitude of respect and sensitivity towards clients with varied backgrounds and abilities. Experience with providing group and individual interventions to children and youth Experience working in a school setting Ability to be flexible within your role Possess ability to function successfully as part of a team Proven ability to work independently Possess excellent communication/interpersonal skills Ability to travel to remote First Nations in small planes
    This full-time position will be based out of Sioux Lookout, Balmertown, or Thunder Bay, Ontario.
    Salary range: $41,811 - $65,164 based on education and experience. KOBE offers a Comprehensive Benefit Package.

  • Student Services Activity Centre Worker Lead Term Position 1 Year
    KOBE Student Services is a department of KO Board of Education that provides support to students attending secondary schools in Thunder Bay, Sioux Lookout and Dryden. The Activity Centre Worker Lead will oversee and plan activities with the Activity Centre Workers.
    Qualifications: Ability to speak one of the local dialects is an asset Experience working with First Nations an asset Knowledge of First Nations peoples specifically First Nations in NAN Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Experience in coordinating events with students CPR/First Aid, Safe Food Handling or willing to obtain Able to work effectively with others Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to work evenings and shift work Driver’s license with 3 years driving experience Must be willing to provide a vulnerable sector check
    Duties: -create weekly/monthly activity schedule -keep students informed of the activities schedule -monitor all activity centre workers (Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay) -weekly/monthly report of activities -promote team work approach with staff -chaperone students on planned activities with Land Based and Student Wellness Programs as required -other duties as required
    Wage range: $45,950 - $70,520 based on education and experience. KOBE offers a Comprehensive Benefit Package.

    Keewaytinook Okimakanak Board of Education (KOBE) is looking to hire a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to support students requiring speech and language assessments and intervention in the remote First Nations of Deer Lake First Nation, Keewaywin First Nation, Poplar Hill First Nation, Fort Severn First Nation, and North Spirit Lake First Nation.
    To support the work-life balance and the well-being of our staff, KOBE offers the following vacation and holiday schedule: Four weeks of vacation annually as part of their employment benefits Two weeks off during the Christmas break, coinciding with the holiday season One week off for March Break , aligning with the school calendar
    About the Role
    Reporting to the Vice Principal, the successful candidate will be required to complete assessments, develop intervention plans and complete reporting for students with communication disorders. The Speech Language Pathologist will provide direction and guidance to the Communication Disorders Assistant(s). The Speech Language Pathologist will participate as a member of the Speech Language Team in cooperation with KOBE staff, KO First Nation school principals and teachers, students’ families in addressing students’ speech and language needs. The Speech and Language Pathologist will work out of KOBE's Winnipeg sub office and travel to Northern community schools to provide 1:1 intervention to students.
    Qualifications
    Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology Registered and a member in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM) Experience in working with school age children Experience with providing group and individual interventions to children and youth Experience working in a school setting Possess excellent communication/interpersonal skills Possess ability to function successfully as part of a team Able to travel to remote First Nations in small planes Current valid Criminal Record Check
    Salary range: $82,115 - $99,812 based on education and experience. KOBE offers a Comprehensive Benefit Package.
