  • This position is part of the Rotary and Mission Systems business area, where employees across Canada support engineering, systems integration, training, sustainment and in-service support programs for Canadian and international military customers across land, air and sea.

    Specific Job Description Lockheed Martin Canada has a requirement to support tactical and operational training roles responsible for leading and overseeing the analysis, design, development, scheduling, integration, and delivery of training products and services across our current and future domestic and international programs, including Naval Warfare Officer and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Professional training in support of Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and other Navies Force Generation.

    This role will employ Naval Subject Matter Experts (SME) to advise, develop, and deliver portions of Naval Operations and Warfare training, across all warfare domains, in collaboration with synthetic trainers for the Combat System scope of all sustainment programs. This includes leading members of the technical training team while working across discipline and product teams, as well with key customer stakeholder groups to ensure that delivered training solutions meet the high standards and specific needs of the customer. This position will also fill multi-domain Primary Warfare Commander positions in the simulation environment as required. This position will report functionally to local leaders as well as technically to a coastal training lead, and Training IPT Leads. The ideal candidate is proactive, dynamic and motivated to shape training solutions through robust engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

    To enable success, the candidate will possess a deep understanding of naval military operations, training requirements, engineering processes, and the ability to deliver cost-effective and innovative training solutions to the customer.

    Responsibilities

    Provide tactical and /or operational level naval SME input into the analysis, design, and delivery of training products and services to meet customer Force Generation needs

    Support scheduling of training events and inter-program support for Lockheed Martin staff

    Directly support internal and external stakeholders to plan, prepare for and deliver individual (IT&E) and Collective Training (CT) events in simulated training environments

    Provide classroom and Trainer instruction / mentoring and provide naval SME input into training requirements with the RCN before and during scenarios

    Facilitate performance feedback to RCN instructors and students

    Lead training continuous improvement activities

    Support training in the role of a Warfare Commander in a simulator environment as required (commensurate with previous experience)

    Support the RCN by providing instructors with lesson plan integration and scenario development support

    Provide support to bi-costal training teams as required to meet Customer priorities, this includes regular attendance to virtual meetings and travel to location when necessary

    Recommend realistic operational insertions to improve training effectiveness

    Support LMC program lines with SME input to software development and BD/Capture processes

    Support LMC program lines with testing support

    Conduct tours and provide demonstrations of the Customer's site as tasked by DND and LMC

    Identify and report discrepancies, issues, and observations pertaining to LM delivered products to appropriate stakeholders

    Support Training Leads in macro and micro agile work planning and reporting

    Share lessons learned with peers and colleagues across the organization

    Support Technical Training Manager in the maintenance of a proactive, mutually supportive relationship with our domestic Customers

    Maintain a high standard of professional excellence

    Work full-time at the Customer site with minimum supervision and following common LM processes, but identify when change needs to occur and offer solutions to evolve processes

    Required skills, qualifications and experience

    Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in an Education-related or business discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree

    Naval Experience: Operations Room Officer and/or Warfare Director equivalent qualifications

    Post Operational tour experience with Sea Training Staff, Fleet Staff, Warfare Centre, or warfare training establishments would be an asset

    Broad understanding of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Operations, Rules of Engagement employment, and a detailed knowledge of RCN cross domain operations

    Experience with training analysis, design, development and evaluation of comprehensive training programs. Familiarity with the Canadian Forces Individual Training Education System and RCN Collective Training System is required

    Broad understanding of CAF training establishment and processes

    Strong understanding of RCN warfare occupations and training progression

    Experience with Lockheed Martin Combat Management System (CMS) 330

    Ability to effectively plan, employ AGILE processes, delegate tasks, and status work to meet defined program milestones

    Ability to instruct and mentor Naval Warfare Officers and Senior NCO Operators in a broad spectrum of naval operations

    Relationship-focused mindset and a proven ability to support RCN Director-level initiatives

    Ability to summarize and action staffing requirements with functional managers to identify, grow and position skilled professionals to complete technical work

    Desired skills, qualifications and experience

    Familiarity with RCN current and future ship platforms;

    Familiarity with maritime Combat Systems, including Radars, Combat Management Systems, Communications, Weapons, Navigation, Electronic Warfare, Cyber, Remote vehicles, Underwater Sensors;

    Joint Command and Staff Program (Staff College equivalent) and/or CAF Operational Planning Certification, and/or ILQ/ALQ is considered an asset;

    Familiarity with the synthetic training environment and advanced training;

    Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence and Microsoft Office;

    An ability to work independently and proactively to meet team, program and customer needs;

    Collaborative spirit to work effectively with customer Senior leadership;

    Innovative thinking to bring new ideas and improvements to the program;

    Adaptability to respond to changing requirements; and

    Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
