Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in a related field such as disability services, employment services, non-profit management, or business. Demonstrated expertise in advocacy, relationship-building, and navigating complex stakeholder environments. Strong financial acumen and experience managing diverse funding streams and budgets. Proven ability to lead and manage remote teams while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. Experience in strategic planning, change management, and driving innovation in a dynamic environment. Exceptional communication skills, including public speaking, media engagement, and stakeholder relations. Familiarity with government relations and a strong understanding of policy development processes. Technological proficiency, including experience with digital tools for virtual collaboration and organizational efficiency. Previous experience working with, reporting to, or sitting on a Board of Directors. A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field is preferred but not required; relevant experience is prioritized.

The Ideal Candidate: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resource Engineering, or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resource Engineering, with a preference for those who have worked in municipal environments. 3+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a municipal setting or other related sectors. Must possess a Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) or be eligible for licensing within 6 months. Alternatively, can be in good standing with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Demonstrated previous experience with stormwater management, storm and sanitary design and analysis, and flood mitigation. Previous experience with stormwater and wastewater modeling software as well as the ability to prepare technical reports. Familiarity with both Federal and Provincial Legislation concerning municipal engineering such as the Environmental Assessment Act, Highway Traffic Act, Drainage Act, Public Transportation Highway Improvement Act, Local Improvement Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and more. Proven experience with establishing professional relationships and the ability to communicate directly with the community and public. Valid Class “G” Driver’s license. Must maintain a clear police clearance. Previous experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.

Experience should include plan review, design, and approval of municipal services and transportation engineering. 5+ years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized setting. Proven abilities in time management and organizational skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrated integrity and adherence to professional standards, regulations, and corporate policies. Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Sound judgment, initiative, and creativity in evaluating engineering solutions. Practical knowledge of municipal policies, procedures, and processes. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and relevant civil engineering design and modeling software. Familiarity with key legislation including the Environmental Assessment Act, Municipal Act, and others. Ability to assess options within legislative frameworks and municipal policies. Thorough understanding of municipal development standards and planning processes. Knowledge of related legislation such as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and TAC Design manuals.
