Responsibilities Minimum 5 years experience in consulting is required. Implement the design concept through the preparation of detailed mechanical or electrical design and production of drawings and schematics of mechanical or electrical systems for small to medium commercial, institutional, residential, public and private facilities. Schedule and coordinate production activities. Estimate design level of effort, meet milestone schedule deliverables etc. Harmonize the process and information received from architects, structural engineers and other sub-consultants. Review other discipline drawings (structural, architectural, landscape, civil-external). Coordinate production of project drawings. Work with project team and Project Manager to ensure quality and timely delivery of finished product to clients. Prepare and/or aid in the preparation of construction drawings as required by Project Engineer(s), Designer(s), & Senior Technologists. Check and verify design drawings to conform to corporate CAD standards and good drafting practices. Ensure the documents are clear and ‘buildable’. Utilize modern computer-assisted design (CAD) and modeling software for maximum quality and efficiency of producing construction documents. This includes all stages including concept through tender, addendum sketches, and as-built records. Process/prepare received documents for internal use (i.e. Clean-up of Architectural floor plans, sections in accordance with established procedures.) Utilize Bluebeam (PDF) to produce working and final documents. Utilize other software such as MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Qualifications, Experience and Education The position requires the incumbent to have competence with a variety of computer software including high proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Autodesk Revit (BIM) is an asset. Understanding of building systems, interference coordination with other building elements, function, and 3D visualization is considered as an asset. Electrical knowledge is a requirement. Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code 2015 or later would be an asset. Completion of a two year Electrical/Electronic technical course would be required.
