    Position Description
    Reporting directly to the BIM Team Lead, the BIM Coordinator is a key position in the Mercer Mass Timber project execution team. As a self-motivated individual, you have efficient communication skills and enjoy being a team player focused on attention to detail. You are comfortable and able to work well in a deadline-oriented environment, including the ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines.
    You will be supporting colleagues in Engineering, Fabrication Design and Project Management in the delivery of mass timber projects.
    This hybrid position is based out of our corporate head office in Vancouver, BC.
    Responsibilities
    Prepare and review technical submittals to include BIM models, design submittals, shop drawings, etc.Work in and develop a team of Specialist Mass Timber Drafters, focused on a DfMA design approach applied to Mass TimberDevelop and contribute to the group's technical expertise, improve drafting resources and procedures, mentor junior team membersBe passionate about design automation and parametric design/modellingLead communication with Fabrication Designers and collaborate with Mercer Mass Timber group. Engage with external consultants as part of the Project Delivery teamEstimate BIM Coordination needs for projects within an established timeline, reviewing and coordinating as necessary
    Qualifications and Experience
    A degree in Architectural Technology, CAD Technology, Structural Engineering, or a related field would be advantageous.At least 2 years experience as BIM Coordinator or Lead Drafter.Proven experience in Revit, BIM360 and Cadwork.Experience in production and interpretation of structural drawings, i.e., evidence that has worked on projects and produced structural drawings.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Experience in the DfMA process applied to mass timber projects, including CAD/CAM fabrication software packages is considered an asset.Experience in the Coordination for fabrication of Mass Timber projects in the North American and/or European markets is considered an asset.Experience in 4D for site logistics and just-in-time delivery planning (e.g., Navisworks) is considered an asset.Experience in parametric design (Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Python, etc.) is considered an asset.
    Salary & Benefits
    The salary for this position is $80,000 - $105,000. This includes meticulously addressing interface details and lateral load-resisting systems, aligning with applicable codes and design standards.Direct and/or prepare engineering deliverables such as comprehensive calculation and design packages for the mentioned components, employing both fundamental and advanced Finite Element Method (FEM) tools.Provide supervision and critical review of the mass timber fabrication model and associated shop drawings. Ensure structural compliance and assess constructability.Serve as the primary liaison between clients and our internal production team, maintaining open communication regarding project status, fabrication progress, and other pertinent deliverables.Other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications and Experience
    Minimum 2 years experience as a Structural Engineer.
