Experience Level: Senior About the Role Modextil Inc. is seeking a Senior Technical Designer & Merchandiser with deep expertise in menswear , particularly dress shirts and bridge sport shirts . The ideal candidate combines a refined technical skill set with a creative eye for detail—someone who understands the art of tailoring and the science behind perfect fits. We design, produce, and distribute our own in-house labels, while also representing some of the most recognized premium lifestyle brands across North America. From concept to final product, we’re dedicated to delivering elevated, contemporary menswear that blends craftsmanship with modern style. Key Responsibilities Design and develop seasonal collections for Dress Shirts and Bridge Sport Shirts. Select and recolor fabrics, patterns, and trims to align with brand direction and market trends. Conduct market and competitive research to inform design strategy and assortment planning. Build and maintain detailed tech packs (SMS and bulk) to ensure production accuracy. Manage the fit approval process , reviewing samples from proto to final production. Approve strike-offs, lab dips, and trims , maintaining brand consistency and quality. Review bulk fabrics and pre-production samples to ensure specifications are met. Develop line sheets and customer selection CADs to support sales presentations. Collaborate cross-functionally with the design, sourcing, and production teams to ensure on-time delivery and technical excellence. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in technical design and merchandising (menswear specialization preferred). In-depth knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, pattern-making, and fit standards . Proven experience creating tech packs and managing development timelines from concept to production. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office (Excel proficiency is a strong asset). Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and aesthetics. Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative environment. Bonus Points Background in dress shirts or men’s tailoring . Strong balance of analytical and creative skills —comfortable with both spreadsheets and swatches. Passion for craftsmanship, trend forecasting, and continuous improvement.
