*Position Summary:*
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Service Technician to join our team at our rural GM dealership. This role is essential in providing high-quality maintenance and repair services that ensure the safety and satisfaction of our customers. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering dependable workmanship. *Key Responsibilities:*
* Perform routine maintenance and repairs on GM and non-GM vehicles, including oil changes, brake service, tire rotations, and inspections.
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using GM diagnostic equipment and procedures.
* Complete repairs in accordance with GM factory standards and dealership procedures.
* Communicate clearly with the Service Advisor regarding vehicle issues, timelines, and recommendations.
* Document all repairs and maintenance tasks performed in a clear and accurate manner.
* Participate in ongoing GM training and certification programs.
* Maintain a clean and safe workspace in accordance with OH&S standards.
* Provide friendly and respectful customer service when interacting with clients.
* Adapt to a variety of vehicle makes, models, and client needs common in a rural setting.
*Qualifications:*
* Journey-person Automotive Service Technician certification (or 3rd/4th year apprentice working toward certification)
* GM experience preferred, but not required
* Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
* Familiarity with GM diagnostic tools and software is an asset
* Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
* Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
* Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
*Preferred Skills:*
* Strong problem-solving abilities with a logical, diagnostic approach
* Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks independently
* Effective communication skills when working with Service Advisors and team members
* Familiarity with GM vehicle systems and components
* Experience working with rural or agricultural vehicle needs (e.g., heavy-duty trucks, off-road use)
* Comfort working with digital repair orders and dealership management systems
* Customer-focused mindset with a professional and approachable attitude
* Ability to adapt to a wide range of makes and models beyond GM when needed
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs correctly the first time
* Willingness to mentor apprentices or contribute to team development
