Purpose of the Role The Senior Fund Accountant is a key contributor to the internal administration of Nicola Wealth’s Mutual Fund Trusts and Limited Partnerships. Reporting to the Director / Manager, Fund Accounting, this role supports audits, tax compliance, and new fund initiatives, driving Nicola Wealth’s continued growth and excellence in fund administration. In addition, the Senior Fund Accountant acts as a subject matter expert for assigned funds. This position is open to our Vancouver and Toronto offices and is a 12-month contract position. Core Responsibilities Lead Net Asset Value (NAV) reviews and reconciliation with external fund administrators. Review reasonableness of income / expense accruals (including management and performance fees) and review invoices received from vendors. Oversee distribution calculations and non-resident withholding tax payments. Act as primary contact and subject matter expert for assigned funds and LP’s daily operation. Support year-end audit engagements and ensure timely financial statement sign-off. Support tax slip cycles (T3, T5013, NR4, RL-16) and support tax filings (GST / HST, US Tax Return, PFIC). Calculate estimated fund expense ratios. Support new fund launches and restructurings. Build strong relationships with internal departments and external service providers, including our fund administrator, custodian, auditor, tax advisor, external legal counsel etc. Identification and documentation of key internal controls and policy.
