  • Senior Product Designer

Job Summary/Objective Designs simple, lovable, and complete solutions for users involved in the vehicle parts and repair ecosystem so they have an easier way to get their job done. Works collaboratively with Product Management and Engineering to define and build solutions that are viable, desirable, and feasible. Plays a crucial role in leading early-stage discovery, transforming customer user data into insights, and designing and validating that the experience we intend to create will achieve the desired outcomes. Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job) Leads end-to-end design for complex initiatives. Owns the design process for high-impact, ambiguous, or cross-functional projects, driving user-centered solutions that align with business objectives. Communicates design decisions effectively. Articulates design rationale, user needs, and the value of design to cross-functional partners, including Product and Engineering, in a way that aligns with business objectives. Partners with Product and Engineering to influence product strategy and prioritize opportunities that balance business needs with user impact and drive innovation and efficiency. Conducts and synthesizes user research. Leverages qualitative and quantitative research methods to generate deep insights, creating frameworks that inform design decisions. Synthesizes insights into actionable frameworks. Develops user personae, mental models, journey maps, and other artifacts to guide product strategy and user experience. Translates research into prototypes and user testing. Develops ideas, interactive prototypes, and facilitates usability testing to validate design solutions. Creates complete solutions that improves user experience, supports scalability, and sets a high usability standard. Scales design patterns. Contributes to and refines interaction models, usability patterns, and our design system that enhances consistency and scalability across products. Facilitates and leads cross-functional collaboration including design workshops and strategic discussions to align stakeholders around user experience goals. Collaborates with leadership to set the vision and structure of the design discipline within the company. Advocates for design’s role in product development, and shapes the team’s workflows while contributing to the continuous evolution of design processes. Mentors junior designers and remains involved in their projects as a thought partner. Education A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus in Industrial and Product Design, UX/UI, or related discipline. In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the key responsibilities of the role will be considered as a substitute for the degree. Experience, Skills and Key Competencies At least 6 years of experience working in product design roles delivering multiple initiatives with cross-functional teams, to include a diverse background in user research, interaction design, information architecture, hi-fidelity prototyping, and design thinking methodologies, plus a strong portfolio that demonstrates a distinct design perspective and depth of experience including user-centered design methodologies, interaction flows, prototyping, shipped products and evidence of how design decisions influenced user experience, engagement and overall product success. Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities: Comfortable working within agile software methodologies. Collaborative approach to work, to iterate and improve designs based on feedback. Strong and clear communication skills, and can effectively articulate design decisions, effectively provide and receive feedback, and communicate in a respectful, positive and constructive manner even during times of challenge and frustration. Demonstrates a thoughtful perspective and well-informed opinions while remaining open to feedback and new ideas. Proficient in applying design thinking, user research, and accessibility principles to create intuitive and includes experiences. Can effectively organize and manage day-to-day work and priorities, and use time, energy and resources to meet goals, deadlines, and deliverables. Flexible and adaptable approach to work, and can easily adjust to shifts in priorities as the needs of the business change. Able to effectively work and thrive in a remote/hybrid work environment that has limited opportunities for in-person interactions, using digital tools to collaborate and maintain engagement.
