Job Title: Infrastructure Specialists – 6 positions available
Location: Barrie, ON (with some travel to GTA locations, Markham, and Hwy 27 and Hwy 401)
Contract: Initial Term: 12 months (with up to two 6 month renewals)
Time Required: 40 hours per week
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM; overtime as required
Candidates must hold a valid Driver's License, have a reliable, insured vehicle, and pass a criminal security check.
Overview
The Infrastructure Specialist works with team members to understand business needs and design information technology systems within a documented architectural framework. Responsibilities include attending project meetings to capture business requirements, designing and documenting information systems, and providing knowledge transfer to the sustaining organization. The role interfaces with senior team members to develop, document and extend the infrastructure service model across a large system of 800+ Windows servers, both virtual and physical, operating 24/7 in a highly secure environment.
Skills and Experience Required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6+ years of virtualization design and implementation experience
Experience with security status monitoring products (preferred)
Experience with HP Blade (c7000), DL380/580, Windows 2003, 2008, XP, 7
Experience working in a 7x24x365 highly secure environment
Experience working in a high availability environment
Relevant infrastructure experience aligning business objectives, capabilities, and physical infrastructure
Knowledge of networking for server connectivity and port requirements
Demonstrated experience managing OS and hardware life cycle
Strong organizational and communication skills
Strategic business thinking – ability to apply technical knowledge to propose business solutions
Ability to work in a multi-team environment and drive completion of deliverables
Ability to assess enterprise risk and recommend mitigation
Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities
Ability to liaise effectively with business, IT stakeholders, and vendors
Proven ability to create design and implementation documentation
Relevant experience in the utility sector (preferred)
