As part of this initiative, we are seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator to join the team and contribute to environmental management and permitting for this advanced exploration project.
    Position Overview:
    The Environmental Coordinator will play a key role within the Environment Department in the early phase of development of the project, driving sustainability by implementing environmental compliance programs and management systems that meet both legal and voluntary requirements. The Environmental Coordinator will oversee all physical environmental aspects of the project, including environmental studies, permitting, and compliance processes to support exploration and future mine construction and mining operations. The role also includes monitoring environmental impacts, implementing mitigation strategies, and promoting a culture of environmental stewardship within the project, while coordinating with other departments to maintain a safe and environmentally responsible site. This role requires expertise in environmental assessments and regulatory approvals. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all environmental standards are met in alignment with company goals and objectives, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Conduct and manage environmental baseline studies to define existing environmental conditions at the project site. • Identify potential environmental risks and develop and implement corresponding environmental mitigation plans to address potential impacts from exploration, construction and mining activities, including water management, dust control, and waste disposal. • Conduct, coordinate and deliver all environmental impact study requirements toward the granting of an Environmental Impact Assessment. • Support the GM Sustainability and the Indigenous Relations and Community Engagement team for any requests regarding environmental approvals, permitting and Indigenous relations. • Regularly collect and analyze environmental samples (air, water, soil) to monitor for potential contaminants and ensure compliance with permits. • Maintain detailed environmental monitoring records and reports. • Conduct environmental audits and inspections of exploration, construction and mining operations to identify potential environmental risks. • Ensure adherence to all applicable environmental regulations, permits, and company environmental policies. • Communicate environmental data and concerns to site management and stakeholders. • Collaborate with operations team to design and implement environmental control systems.
    Qualifications & Experience:

    The client, a reputable company in the mining sector specializing in potash mining, is seeking a Senior Mine Engineer for a position at one of their potash mining sites. They work in a fast-paced and demanding environment, concentrating on the extraction and production of potash, a key fertilizer for agriculture.
    The Senior Mine Engineer reports directly to the Chief Mine Engineer.
    Responsibilities:
    This role will focus on mine ventilation. You will serve as the subject matter expert for projects involving the mine ventilation system and its maintenance/expansion:
    Develop ventilation designs, ground support designs, and mining layouts. Act as a representative of the Mine Engineering department on multidisciplinary project teams, including developing project scope and schedule, conducting progress inspections, reporting on variance, and ensuring the integration of geotechnical, ventilation, and surveying requirements. Lead underground mining projects from initiation to completion. Perform field inspections to assess ventilation controls and ground conditions, ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures and taking corrective actions where necessary. Install instrumentation to collect ventilation data, interpret findings, and provide recommendations. Provide technical support to mine operations. Collaborate with mine planning personnel to create and execute both long and short-term mine plans. Be a safety leader and work within a collaborative team environment. Mentored junior engineers technically.
    Qualifications:
    Bachelor of Science in Mining or Geological Engineering. Must be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer with the relevant regulatory body. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an underground mining environment is required. More than 5 years of relevant experience is preferred. Strong understanding of underground ventilation systems and their design. Commitment to safety. Willingness to work underground. Knowledge of potash mining methods.
