    Electrical Designer, Integrated Pursuits
    Plan Group Inc. is currently looking for an Electrical Design Manager to join our Integrated Pursuits team in pursuing major constructions projects across Canada. Our team is currently actively pursuing several high-profile projects in Ontario and Western Canada.
    To truly excel in this role, you are able to display initiative and resourcefulness while: Managing design resources Directing major decisions with Consulting Firms Communicating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders Evaluating Risk and Opportunities within the proposal Overseeing a comprehensive and detailed estimate
    This role requires sound communications skills (oral and written) demonstrated through client and staff relations, strong presentation skills and a high comfort level in speaking in front of people. The ability to lead meetings and technical discussions to enable you to represent Plan Group and its’ brand in an open forum.
    As an experienced Electrical Design Manager, you have the ability to work independently in a complex and fast paced environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients. You have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, a strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and above all a willingness to learn and contribute to a team.
    As Electrical Designer you will be asked to do the following:
    Support and/ or lead specific Alternate Financing & Procurement (AFP) Integrated Pursuits with an electrical focus. Read and clearly understand an issued Statement of Requirements; review, understand and interpret job specifications and drawings and follow through with estimating process to develop competitive submissions. Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather information, clarify specifications, wording, etc. and in meetings and presentations with clients and partners. Work within an Integrated Multi Discipline group in both estimating and operations to ensure any and all efficiencies are realized to offer the best value in pricing and maximum profit. Work with design teams to ensure the design not only matches the prescription but is focused on an efficient design with cost control at the forefront. Manage a pursuit schedule and understand the importance of deadlines. Work in conjunction with our consultant partners to complete system layouts in order to assist with estimating process. Assist in producing material and labour take-off through estimating software to develop accurate quotations. Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing to include within the final quotation provided to client. Manage project tasks within assigned time and budget constraints and supervise tasks delegated to team members for content and quality. Coordinate system installation requirements with other design disciplines. Assist in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, procedures and working practices to identify and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity and overall profitability. Remain up to date with current techniques, codes and standards and developments to sustain and improve technical skills. Participate in closing the bid including bid review meetings. Participate in hand over meeting with the Operations and Project Management team after award. Maintain existing business and assist with the development of new business opportunities.
    QUALIFICATIONS You have a minimum of five (5) years of Engineering experience within the Electrical Construction industry combined with an Electrical Engineering degree or diploma or related education and/or trade experience. Professional Engineer, Licensed in the Province of Ontario or Ingénieur, Licensed in the Province of Québec, is considered an asset. Experience in Design Build / P3 Healthcare projects specific to distribution, fire alarm and lighting is required. Applicants must include a detailed project list with resume submission. Design Build Construction related experience a definite asset ideally having completed a full cycle P3 project. Experience with various Low Voltage systems (ie. Security, IT Systems, Nurse Call etc.) preferred. Develop installation drawings for a wide range of electrical building systems such as power distribution, branch power and lighting, fire alarm, security, communications and other specialty systems. Interact and collaborate with the project team to develop drawings efficiently and accurately while maintaining any time and schedule constraints. Develop drawings showing the necessary details and assemblies of a wide variety of electrical equipment with details such as dimensions, fastening methods, slab coordinates and other required information. Model and coordinate electrical infrastructure e.g. cabletrays, sleeving, electrical equipment, etc. resolving all model clashes with other trades. Navigate through and interpret structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings for various occupancy types and spaces. Perform technical calculations including and not limited to voltage drop, conduit fill. Review design drawings and provide feedback to ensure requirements are met. Understand and comply with the project schedule to submit deliverables and implement changes and revisions as required.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent. Our ideal candidate is PR or Citizenship + 5 years of residency. Knowledge of electrical systems from both the design and installation perspectives including: power distribution, branch power and lighting, fire safety, security and communications systems. Advanced knowledge of Autodesk products including Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, ACC platform. An understanding of the uses of drawing levels, references files, various CAD tools, scaling, dimensioning and cross-sectional interpolations. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.     As Procurement Specialist, Electrical Equipment you will: Prepare and coordinate RFx Process and establish sourcing strategies for large electrical equipment such as emergency power systems, distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls systems. RFx development and preparation with defined commercial conditions. Prepare Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA). Solicit and analyze proposals and negotiate pricing, delivery terms and conditions to satisfy requirements for highly complex projects. Analyze and evaluate all elements of specialized materials, components and services to ensure it meets the specifications. Establish pricing, delivery, terms and conditions to satisfy financial, quality and delivery requirements through contract terms negotiation. Understanding of supplier capacity, capability and manufacturing processes compared to project technical requirements. Manage supply and supplier commitments after purchase order is issued, including change management.
    Our ideal candidate has: Degree in business or engineering preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience within procurement, pursuits or estimating with large and complex electrical projects. Construction site experience preferred Strong analytic and problem-solving ability with high attitude for ownership. Ability to read and comprehend electrical diagrams. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong understanding of Project Specific Output Specifications (PSOS). Highly organized with strong attention to detail skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Knowledge of or exposure to ERP systems (SAP or MS Dynamics), an asset. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, can proactively multi-task and manage multiple priorities and requests.
