  • Mechanical Project Manager

    Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, high volume capacity? Do you enjoy competing against time and budget constraints to complete projects? As a Mechanical Project Manager you will be asked to do the following: Establish and achieve project targets and milestones to deliver mechanical projects on-time and within budget. Provide active promotion and leadership in Health and Safety Monitor and provide status updates of work in progress, forecasts, cost control and project schedule in line with Plan Group’s T.I.M.E. efficiency program. Proactively identify and bring to management’s attention potential problems and/or schedule delays. Follow up to ensure accurate project forecasting. Monitor and analyze critical path activities and advise project team accordingly. Review and manage short interval planning. Lead pre-job planning including estimate turnover, kick off meetings, subcontractor selection, material handling strategies and opportunities for risk management and improved productivity. Follow up with site supervision on labour/manpower progress; identify and reduce roadblocks to success. Manage project team to ensure requirements for document control, change order process, coordination of equipment and material deliveries, site meetings and progress documentation are adhered to. Identify opportunities to provide project team members with regular feedback, coaching and training. Build strong relationships with clients, GCs and Engineers to positively contribute to the success of the project. Must have flexibility to travel within Canada (up to 25% of the time for certain projects) QUALIFICATIONS You have skilled trades background or a Mechanical Engineering post-secondary education. Construction project management experience a definite asset. You have experience managing mechanical commercial and institutional projects. Large Healthcare project experience preferred. Knowledge of Estimating software such as Accubid Change Order, Enterprise – Enterprise Change Order Version and/or Estimating experience is considered an asset Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office as asset. Ability to travel within Canada (up to 25% of the time for certain projects) You hold or are working towards a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent considered an asset Experience analyzing and understanding Architectural, Electrical and Mechanical construction drawings and experience working on commercial and institutional projects.     Our focus, to create smart solutions for our clients through connecting the building and the people who work and or live within them together by optimizing the building operations. The Director Mechanical Service will be developing the strategic business plan to drive the growth, profitability and sustainability of the Mechanical Service BU.
    As the Director, Mechanical Service , your responsibilities will include:
    Work with customers, partners, suppliers and internal BUs to establish Plan Group as the “go to” mechanical services partner in the industry Provide leadership, direction and support to the Mechanical BU team to achieve goals, creating an environment that fosters team commitment and employee engagement Contribute to the overall strategic and operational effectiveness of the National Services BU including development of Mechanical business in new locations / areas In line with the National Services Business Plan, deliver the business plan for Mechanical Services activities through active and effective management of resources, sales and operational delivery. Work on cross BU initiatives to develop synergies and efficiencies consolidating and standardizing processes Work alongside other Plan Group Business Units to identify and deliver on key customer accounts and/or products Maintain up to date knowledge of leading trends in the HVAC, plumbing and refrigeration industry to position Plan Group Service as “trusted adviser” to its customers With the BU finance team lead the budget and financial goal setting for the BU , track performance against budgets through WIP and other financial reporting processes Provide oversight and day to day management on all activities to identify risks and opportunities, while maintaining projects on time and on budget Develop operational KPIs (billing turnaround time, cost/work order, etc) and identify ways to measure performance targets to drive continuous improvement and customer experience Map existing internal business processes to identify opportunities to streamline operations, creating innovative solutions and out-of-the box thinking, encouraging others to share ideas and new concepts Ensure that the company Health & Safety initiatives and objectives are implemented and adhered to across the BU
    Our ideal candidate has : Ten (10) years’ experience within the mechanical service industry with a focus on end user and construction experience; trades experience is considered an asset Demonstrated leadership in people engagement, employee development, operational strategy development and execution Experience in budgetary planning, profit & loss management, and contract management Demonstrated ability to manage clients and end users including client acquisition and operational delivery Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including excel, MS Project and Teams Self-starter and committed to contributing in a team environment
