  • Our client, an employee-owned consulting firm focused on building engineering and advisory, is seeking a Project Manager, Enclosure & New Construction Engineering. This is a permanent full time position, paying 88-110k per annum, including benefits, RRSP matching and a healthcare spending account.
    You will:
    • Collaborate with the Project Directors to develop the project deliverables and team structures. • Lead and coach project teams to fully understand client needs and expectations and to deliver appropriate value for client investment. • Conduct building evaluations and field reviews to determine design and repair options. • Prepare client proposals, building evaluation reports, design, and construction documents. • Provide regular project status updates to Project Directors and advise on the issues that impact quality and client relations, i.e. schedule, technical, budget, team, performance, peer review, etc. • Provide technical advice to clients. • Manage the contract administration and technical review of restoration projects at the construction stage. • Evaluate contractor performance to ensure project deliverables and quality standards are achieved. • Keep the client informed of site issues impacting project quality and resolve issues as required. • Contribute to our positive reputation in the market and maintain client base. • Effectively manage internal resources while adhering to the project budget and scheduled targets. • Ensure projects comply with company policies and practices. Encourage continuous process improvement with a positive and constructive attitude, and coach for developing this attitude in others.     You have:
    • A degree in engineering (Civil), building sciences, or equivalent. • 5 years experience related to key responsibilities. • P.Eng designation or working towards it an asset. • Proven success managing enclosure and construction projects involving large commercial and residential buildings. • In-depth knowledge of building materials and construction processes for building envelopes, cladding systems, roofs and parking structures. • Ability to quickly identify and understand project issues and opportunities. • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships. • Proven experience delegating project tasks to junior team members. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Solid organizational and time management skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail. • Exceptional customer service skills. • Effective team player.

  • Building Science Specialist  

    - Ottawa

    Our client, a Canadian multidisciplinary engineering and building science firm, is seeking Intermediate/Senior Building Science Specialists for their Ottawa office. These are permanent positions, paying between 60-85k (Junior/Intermediate) and 80-110k (Intermediate/Senior), including a competitive benefits and vacation package with RRSP matching. These positions will be mostly in-office, with Fridays allocated as a weekly work from home day.
    Intermediate Building Science Specialist – Job Description:
    Duties to include, but not be limited to performing or assisting in: Visual and destructive investigations required to diagnose specific problems related to building envelope and structures and recommend repair options Building envelope conditions assessments and detailed report preparation Prepare technical engineering drawings and specifications for restoration projects in accordance with established codes and standards On-site field reviews of building envelope restoration projects for general conformance Design and construction building envelope consulting for new construction projects Perform contract administration Workload management and mentoring of junior engineering staff
    Professional Requirements: Certified Building Technologist in Architectural, Civil/Structural or Building Science related programs or Graduate of College or University Level Engineering Architectural, Civil/Structural, or Building Science related programs. 3-5 years experience at engineering consulting firm Attained or working toward professional engineering or technology license Must be willing to work at heights, including climbing ladders, operating swing stages, and accessing rooftops A valid driver’s license and access to insured vehicle for travel to project sites is required (work related mileage is reimbursed) Own personal form of transportation.
    Coveted Skills: Ability to manage several tasks and prioritize these are required Excellent oral and written communication skills Working knowledge of AutoCAD Excellent organizational and time management skills. Effective and responsive communication with the project team and clients. Working knowledge of building components, building envelope and structural system preferred. Knowledge of building and fire codes is an asset but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    Senior Building Science Specialist – Job Description:

    Kitchen Designer #779 Our client, a well-known custom kitchen cabinet manufacturer is looking to add a Kitchen Designer to their Newmarket showroom. They offer high-end custom cabinetry and are currently looking for an ambitious and experienced designer to join our dynamic team. The position is paying a base salary of $50 - $60K+ commission with overall earning potential of $80 to $100k + in the first year.
    The ideal candidate must have experience in the kitchen/bath and interior design industry and have strong knowledge in custom cabinetry and millwork design.
    This role is suitable for someone who is confident in being the sole contact with a client and is able to handle all the design aspects of construction independently. Experience is a must!
    The ideal candidate will have excellent creative thinking skills and be able to create unique designs based on conversations with a client. The candidate should be confident communicating regularly with the client in order to assess their needs and be able to adjust a given approach based on feedback. The candidate should maintain familiarity with the interior design landscape and trends in order to provide the best ideas for clients.
    The overall objective of the role is to independently manage and execute all project tasks that are required to maintain our exceptional client experience.
    Qualifications:
    4-6 years of kitchen design industry experience. Proficient in AutoCAD, CabinetVision, 2020Technologies, or similar. Attention to detail, accuracy & thoroughness are fundamental competencies in this job. Charismatic, passionate, innovative, customer service oriented.
