Position Summary We are looking for an ambitious Engagement Manager – Financial Modelling and Due Diligence, who above all wants to do high quality, impactful work they can take pride in.

    We Live for A+.

The ideal candidate has experience in management consulting, corporate finance, private equity, public accounting, FP&A, transaction advisory or investment banking, and above all wants to do high‑quality, impactful work they can take pride in—work that creates real value for our clients. Our top priority in hiring for this role is a dedication to excellence, client service and mentoring. Obviously, we need someone who is strong with finance and accounting, but that can be gained in many ways. We’re prepared to provide significant support if you need to deep‑dive on financial modelling and due diligence if your background was a bit less direct (e.g., public accounting or general management consulting).

As a Manager, you will lead projects working with our Consultants and Analysts. As a team, you will deliver comprehensive financial models, develop quality of earnings reports and databooks, build KPI dashboards, conduct industry research, build presentation decks, and conduct in‑depth analyses for management using financial data.

We are a boutique consultancy that differentiates itself from the big firms with best‑in‑class work and a strong functional expertise, and we have no interest in diluting our brand. The ideal candidate can not only keep up, but also win our respect through their work ethic, attention to detail, and high quality of work.

We’re looking above all for someone with a longer‑term outlook who wants to join like‑minded people in building a wildly successful company founded on that principle of creating high‑impact value for clients.

This role will help you deepen your professional services management and supervisory skills, and your client management skills, while widening your financial modelling, due diligence and data analytics abilities. Ultimately, you will play a large role in a quickly growing team with big ambitions.

Our company is on a hybrid model, with the entire team in‑office (at 100 Sheppard Avenue East, Suite 880, Toronto) Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the balance of days at home. We expect that this will be our permanent arrangement – we have no plans to increase the in‑office expectations. While we feed off of each other’s enthusiasm and passion while together in the office (Tuesday and Wednesday), we also recognize the importance of being able to balance both work and personal commitments through work‑from‑home three days a week. Our hybrid model is a reflection of the independence that our team is entrusted with in completing their work.

    Responsibilities

Supervise, mentor, guide, motivate and train a high‑quality team of Consultants and Analysts while overseeing a portfolio of client projects

Manage client relationships, ensuring overall satisfaction while looking for pertinent opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients

Oversee the build‑out of comprehensive and complex financial models covering client companies’ operations, capital structure, working capital items and full financial statements – LBO, debt/equity raise, budgeting models, plant expansions, project finance, roll‑up strategies, etc. Your job will be primarily around (a) structuring the models while incorporating a deep understanding of the client’s revenue and expense drivers, and (b) detailed quality control checks

Oversee the development of quality of earnings databooks and reports, synthesizing financial, accounting, operational and other information from companies going through the M&A process in order to normalize earnings, and provide assurance around claimed earnings. Your job will be primarily around (a) structuring the tests and analyses to be completed, and (b) detailed quality control checks

Supervise the team as they conduct in‑depth market, industry and company research on clients, and develop decks and reports for business plans, business cases, valuations, financial analyses and related documents

Oversee and conduct quality control on the work of Analysts and Consultants on the team

Provide feedback and recommendations to company management on better ways to train and motivate the team, new areas where we can provide related services to existing and new clients, and methods to enhance the company’s operations and efficiency

As required, and depending on available billable work, assist with proposals (“live” client leads, government bids, etc.), marketing material development, writing of white papers and blogs, webinars and seminars to associations and prospective client firms, and help in the process of disseminating marketing materials (emails, webinars, etc.)

    Skills & Qualifications

Experience supervising at least 1 or 2 full‑time employees (i.e., direct reports) in a consulting, advisory, financial planning & analysis or other professional/services context

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (commerce, economics, business administration, computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) is required, though work experience in a relevant field coupled with a non‑related Bachelor’s degree (humanities, social sciences, etc.) can substitute

Ideally, possession of a professional finance designation – especially CFA, CPA (Canada or US), but also CMA, CGA, CBV, FRM. MBA/MFIN also a positive consideration

Intellectual curiosity and passion for learning about new industries and new businesses, as well as new technical skills

Strong dedication to the team and excellent work ethic with a willingness to work for extended hours including weekends when called for by client needs
