    We are looking for an individual with a passion for the natural sciences to join our team. Specific experience in wetland assessment, vegetation, and soil classification is required. The successful applicant will be a professional biologist and authenticating wetland professional and can bring their experience to our public and private sector clients. As well, this position offers an opportunity for a Leadership role, for the right candidate. Although the position will be based in Edmonton, we anticipate working on projects throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Northern Canada.

    Your Role:
    Leading a team of biologists and ecologists in conducting biophysical assessments with a focus on vegetation, wetlands, and soils.Lead the regulatory coordination and permitting of projects in a dynamic work environment, have strong critical thinking capabilities, and have a flexible approach to problem-solving.Project manage multi-disciplinary projects.Frequent and effective interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, other team members, and the public.Preparing reports related to siting evaluation, environmental planning/permitting, environmental reviews, environmental protection/mitigation plans.Prepare proposals including scopes of work, cost estimates and formal proposal submissions.Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and technical experts in biology and environmental science.Lead, mentor, and support junior team members.Travel to project sites across Western Canada (occasional).Contributing to ongoing project management best practice implementation.Staying current on technical and sector-based trends and legislation at the municipal, provincial and level.Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.Additional duties as required.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, environmental sciences or a related field.Professional designation (i.e., P.Biol or equivalent), with a minimum of 12 years of experience.Strong knowledge and practice in wetlands in the Prairies including assessments, mitigation and monitoring.Be a wetland practitioner as directed under the Alberta Wetland Policy and either being an Authenticating Professional or on track towards the Authenticating Professional designation.Experience with regulatory and stakeholder consultation, coordinating with technical teams and contractors, leading technical deliverables, and supporting public consultation.Demonstrated proficiency with industry standard resources, tools and best practices as well as provincial environmental legislation and policy (proficiency under municipal and federal jurisdictions is considered an asset).Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
