Key Accountabilities:Identifies potential risks to the construction of the prep works and supports the implementation of mitigation strategies.Prepares reports on progress and compliance documentation.Regularly reports on project status, anticipated potential scheduling delays, and provide recommendations for escalation to the project leadership team as needed.Conducts regular site inspections while enforcing quality standards and working with the safety team to identify and support the enforcement of safety standards.Monitors contractor performance and participates in resolution of disputes.Coordinates and integrates construction with other disciplines, including safety, design, quality, environmental, traffic, scheduling, external stakeholders, municipalities, and commercial to ensure contract complianceActively seeks roadblock that may impact construction work and site handover and proactively develops solutions to remove them in a collaborative manner.Identifies non-compliance issues and works with the Project Contractor to ensure that solutions developed are technically appropriate, minimize negative impacts on stakeholders and remove obstacles that may impact project success.Responsible for the day to day management of the construction management team, which consists of TI Corp staff and contractors including recruitment, assignment of work, mentorship of employees, the development and evaluation of performance plans and approving leave.Reviews technical submittals and provide expert advice on construction mattersAttends stakeholder and community meetings as required to discuss issues and foster a collaborative approach that supports the success of the project
Qualifications:Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, or a relevant field with a speciality in Construction Management and experience in construction management and oversight or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.Significant experience in construction supervision of major civil infrastructure projects.Strong understanding of British Columbia contract requirements and administration and the owner’s role.Strong understanding of construction schedules and methodologies.Exceptional relationship, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Ability to build agreement and cooperation with stakeholders (influence) to make balanced and informed decisions.
