What You’ll Do
The Controller provides strategic financial leadership and oversight for EPCM’s accounting, reporting, and compliance functions. This role ensures accuracy, transparency, and integrity in all financial operations, supporting corporate governance and decision-making. The Controller manages accounting teams, oversees financial controls, and collaborates with Finance, Executive, and Project Management to maintain strong fiscal discipline and enable sustainable business growth.
This position is based out of our Burlington, ON office location.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Lead preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
Provide financial insights and analysis to support executive decision-making.
Accounting Operations & Governance
Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and treasury functions.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain strong internal controls and financial documentation standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Support financial planning, budgeting, and variance analysis across departments.
Partner with leadership to develop financial forecasts and cost management strategies.
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and project financial performance.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
Lead coordination of external audits and ensure resolution of findings.
Oversee tax compliance, filings, and financial regulatory reporting.
Ensure adherence to EPCM’s financial and ethical governance frameworks.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff to enhance capability.
Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Support ERP optimization and digital finance transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. Professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is required.
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role within EPCM, industrial, or corporate settings.
Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
