SALARY: $75,000 - $90,000/yr + Bonus/Equity GENERAL DESCRIPTION: As an Assistant Controller you will support the District Controller in daily accounting tasks in addition to monthly forecasting, the annual budget, and special projects. You will interact with employees from all aspects of the business including Operations, Sales, Dispatch, and Customer Service. Your success within the role is reliant on an ambitious work ethic, excellent communication and proven ability to problem-solve. The key to Waste Connections’ continued growth and success is sourcing, developing, and promoting individuals who meet these expectations. As an Assistant Controller with us the minimum responsibilities are: • Performing monthly financial close functions through preparation of financial statements • Reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and preparing support documentation • Completion of monthly financial projection analysis • Monthly narrative analysis of significant financial variances to budget and forecast • Effective ongoing communication of financial related information to business counterparts • Planning and participating in the annual financial budget process • Prepare all capital purchase requests for the district, including preparation of all support documents • Prepare HST returns, providing support in audits and industry reporting • Implement and maintain required internal controls • Implement and maintain regular reporting processes to support operations • Coordinating and performing Inventory counts – Rolling Stock, Container, and Truck Shop inventory • Providing training to non-financial personnel on internal control compliance, accounting procedures and financial statement review • Providing support to accounting staff • Special projects as assigned. Safety is key in our business and our mechanics play a crucial role in maintaining both personal and equipment safety. The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for maintaining WCC heavy trucks & heavy equipment in safe working order. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will ensure that all equipment meet all government regulations and standards for safety, as well as WCC safety standards. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic with us the minimum responsibilities are: • Inspect and repair Garbage Trucks, support vehicles and post collection off road equipment; in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner. • Ensure that all equipment and systems are operational by conducting inspections and completing related repairs to ensue vehicle uptime is maintained • Maintain accurate work orders and parts charge outs using an electronic work order system • Complete all safety checks and record all tire and brake measurements in the data base. • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. • Works independently as well as under direction of the senior mechanics and lead hands. • Will be required to learn and service all post collection processing equipment and perform facility work as needed.
