Responsibilities Enforce and follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance with WestJet and regulatory standards. Operate safety and emergency equipment such as oxygen systems, aircraft doors, life rafts, evacuation slides, fire extinguishers, galley equipment, communication equipment, and lighting systems. Follow procedures to safely perform on‑time (SPOT). Ensure and uphold exceptional traveler service standards, both inflight and on the ground. Complete service and sales in accordance with WestJet service standards. Anticipate and adhere to travelers’ needs. Effectively manage uncomfortable or challenging situations with the public. Carry oneself with the utmost professionalism and poise while on‑duty or in the public eye. Adhere to uniform and appearance standards as prescribed under company policy. Qualifications & Conditions of Employment Must be able to communicate with an advanced level of written and spoken English. Must be proficient in reading English for training completion. Must have 2‑3 years of customer service experience. Must solve problems and make quick decisions in the interest of safety, crew, or traveler needs. Must be comfortable working in confined spaces. Must be flexible and able to work a varied schedule. Must be 19 years of age or older. Must hold a current valid passport; if not Canadian, a Canadian Permanent Resident card (with all necessary visas) is required. Must be able to reach 204 cm without shoes and lift on the balls of the feet. Must obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card (requires a 5‑year traceable history, a clear criminal record, and Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident status). Must be able to travel internationally (United States and beyond) without restrictions. Must lift 50 pounds from floor to waist and 22 pounds overhead. Must successfully complete an initial training program; no absence from training is permitted. Must be ready and willing to work 24 h/7 d/365 y; work any hour of the day and any day of the week or year. Must be available for reserve shifts; must be contactable and able to report within a prescribed period. Must pass a WestJet Post‑Offer Employment Test. The Senior Fleet Engineer reports to the Sr Manager, Aircraft Engineering Programs and is responsible for research, planning, implementation, and the support of technical changes to aircraft configuration and maintenance program, in their specific assigned areas. These technical changes consist of airframe and component service bulletins, service letters, major and minor modifications, repairs, and any other alterations made to aircraft and aeronautical products. The Senior Fleet Engineer is also responsible for program compliance, modification status reporting, as well providing engineering assistance to all applicable teams within Technical Operations and WestJet. Key deliverables include Work with aircraft manufacturer(s) to select and define the configuration of new aircraft entering the WestJet Group of Companies fleet with input from fleet strategy, flight operations, and all internal stakeholders while ensuring regulatory and operational needs are met Review the configuration of all used aircraft entering the WestJet Group of Companies fleet and evaluate the changes required for regulatory compliance and operational needs in coordination with all internal stakeholders. Provide work scope definition and financial estimates Support new and used aircraft deliveries during production and MRO activities through to final technical acceptance ensuring all requirements are met for Transport Canada import Support Compliance team in the evaluation of aircraft configurations for the purpose of determining regulatory compliance Provide technical support to the In-Service Engineering team during the creation of engineering controls and task cards required for all configuration changes and for in-service issues related to a configuration change Provide technical assistance to procurement during the creation of RFPs, contracts, and statements of work for major supplier contracts Continual review of up-to-date OEM service data applicable to assigned areas with the intent to ensure a safe, compliant, and reliable fleet Implement technical changes to the aircraft configuration and maintenance program in accordance with a standardized and comprehensive process to ensure a consistent, compliant product Develop and issue engineering actions with supporting documents, drawings, and manual revisions to accomplish changes to aircraft, powerplant, equipment, avionics, accessories, and appliances as applicable Investigate problems and proposed modifications initiated by the requester, evaluate potential merits and provide or recommend solutions Attend industry meetings and conferences as required for configuration definition support and to keep up to date on new product offerings and upcoming major aircraft configuration changes required for regulatory compliance and/or reliability improvements.
