The Role
Within this role you will be focusing on supporting our reginal clients to deliver various industrial projects in the Mining, Oil and Gas, Electrical Generation and Electrical Utilities sectors. This is a full‑time position with a flexible working arrangement. Reporting to the Fredericton Electrical Lead, and working alongside other team members locally and across the country, you will have the opportunity to provide Instrument & Controls (I&C) design and technical support for a wide variety of projects.

Responsibilities
Prepare Pipeline class location assessments
Coordinate with GIS specialist to develop Alignment sheets
Perform pipeline design calculations, including wall thickness, hydrotest and HDD
Prepare pipeline design reports, and material selection
Contribute to engineering specifications, standards, and procedures
Complete Material Take Offs (MTOs) and prepare associated Material Requisitions
Preparation of Construction Work Packages (CWPs)
Coordinate procurement bids and conduct technical bid evaluations
Identify optimization and operating cost reduction opportunities
Ensure construction and field modifications comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
Provide technical guidance on project designs, cost estimates, and economic justifications
Support short- and long-term engineering planning and innovation initiatives

Expected:
Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or Pipeline Engineering preferred)
15+ years of experience with below-ground pipelines
Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
Familiarity with engineering standards relevant to the Oil & Gas pipeline industry, including CSA, ASME, API, and Alberta Pipeline Rules
Strong technical knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Proven ability to work in a team environment while collaborating with various disciplines
Demonstrated willingness to learn and work independently
Strong technical writing and oral communication skills in English
Comfortable working in a hybrid (office and home) environment
Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application

Responsibilities
Complete Design and Drafting for Electrical packages including, but not limited to, cable tray layouts, lighting and grounding, power layouts, equipment lists, single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, 3D modelling
Implement project CAD procedures and guidelines
Design calculations which include voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat trace wattage
Populating electrical load and cable lists
Check layouts, review overall presentations, and maintain quality control of all designs and packages presented
Co-ordination of drawing packages for issue and prepare issue folders for electronic files
Review project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy
Establish good working relationships and communicate with area leads, department managers, clients and other engineering disciplines to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design
Attend site visits to collect data as required for projects
Develop and enhance project CAD systems

Expected
Graduate of an Electrical Engineering Technology program, or of a related Design / Drafting (CAD) program with relevant experience in electrical design
Minimum 4 years' experience in electrical design for mining, oil & gas, electrical generation or similar industrial industries
Knowledge of one-line drawings, AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC, switchgear, substation equipment); raceway layouts, and cable schedules
Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply it in designs
Proficiency using CAD and 3D design / drafting, preferably AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or AVEVA E3D
Familiarity with Navisworks and Bluebeam is a plus
Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of utility protection and control systems using SEL relays
Familiar with medium and low voltage power distribution systems
Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility
Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required

Lead discipline scope on small projects and electrical packages on large projects
Act as the electrical Professional of Record on assigned projects
