  • SUMMARY: Manage and oversee the operations and administration of the Northgate industrial site: 73,000 metric ton high speed shuttle loading grain terminal, 26 thousand short ton fertilizer warehouse and energy & industrial product operations, and overall operations growth in all areas. Lead and manage all staff onsite, including admin and commercial teams, and ensure that operations and overall business are consistent with the company’s vision & mission and overall standards. Risk Management is a key component and responsibility of this position. RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure all operations comply with all laws and regulations including but not limited to the CGC, Canadian Grain Act, COSHA, provincial and local environmental and regulatory requirement. Champion and promote a strong culture of safety behaviors and risk management best practices to ensure the protection of our employees, customers, assets and the environment, ensuring all operations and activities are managed safely, responsibly and in full compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Manage all operations and staff scheduling on site (through direct reports/on-site managers of each operation): grain elevator, fertilizer warehouse, propane transloading, industrial products, etc. Collaborate with relevant commercial teams to maximize the value of the facility. Manage all operations related to growth opportunities: Expansion of existing businesses, crude by rail, new bulk products (e.g., coal, fly ash), new industrial products, grain & oilseed processing, etc. Lead all employees and company culture on site, including admin & commercial teams: coordination & evaluation of staff, interviewing & hiring, managing company policies & procedures, etc. Set individual goals and execute reviews. Act as a leader across the organization and actively participate in the company’s extended leadership team. Form strong peer relationships with other leaders in Ceres and ensure transparency among Northgate operations as they relate to other areas of the company. Provide strong operations leadership, process knowledge and business discipline to ensure long-term success and growth. Direct and manage facility repairs and CAPEX projects, including budgeting, tracking and submitting approvals. Direct and manage product inventory accounting and ensure product remains in good condition. Oversee the annual budget process and monitor actual results in order to achieve objectives. Maintain files, spreadsheets and communicate information to support and ensure communication with commercial and admin staff. Perform other duties as assigned and/or required. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a plant operations capacity and leading teams, including staff and production scheduling Engineering/mechanical background and/or experience Prior experience outlining and managing project plans for growth, and operational improvements. Proven track record implementing and managing safety and risk management programs. Proven business, operations, financial and commercial competencies with prior P&L experience strongly preferred. A strategic thinker who can be detailed and analytical when required. A mentor and collaborator who knows how to create, maintain and work within high performing teams. Must possess unquestionable business ethics and integrity. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
