Responsibilities
Plan the mechanical and electrical components of a construction project and ensure applicable activities fit within the overall project framework.
Chair project M&E meetings, determining the status of the job in terms of scheduling and costing and solving complex technical issues.
Monitor a project’s material and labour costs for mechanical and electrical components and assure accurate quality reporting is being conducted.
Manage the project commissioning team to provide a record of systems performance.
Prepare and implement training programs to ensure a successful transition from the construction team to facility management.
Qualifications
You have an Engineering/Mechanical degree or equivalent combination of technical training.
Mechanical or Electrical Design experience considered an asset.
Experienced in the management of the projects end to end (scope development, spec development, tendering review and evaluation, managing contractor installation, quality review, project closeout, etc.).
You have 5–7 years of experience in Mechanical and Electrical functions.

Experience in creating and monitoring construction estimates across a variety of project types and delivery methods, including lump sum, unit rate, time and material construction management and design build with the ability to lead a team in the preparation of estimates for major projects
Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, etc
Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful as well as plan and coordinate and supervise large projects
Review all final estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
Manage people and look after the bids
Is this the right role for you?
Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. Advanced management or technical training preferred
Experience in estimating earthworks, underground, and concrete projects in public and industrial setting
Extensive (10 or more years) experience in similar facility construction estimating and related functions plus thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts required
Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision making/problem solving skills essential

You As a Senior Estimator Will
Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure; mentor and train junior estimating staff
Assemble accurate, timely and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-build
Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process
Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities
Distribute sub-trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing, and project costs, for future reference
Is this the right role for you?
10+ years of experience in ICI estimating or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
You have an advanced knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts as well as conceptual estimating and unit costs
You have the ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations while delegating to a team
You have the ability to work independently & have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively.
You have experience using various takeoff software, specifically either CostX or BlueBeam.
The salary range for this is $100,000 - $135,000

You As a Project Manager Will
Provide overall construction management from pre-construction to completion including design, coordination, budget, and schedule in conjunction with the Superintendent
Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for Owners, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings.
Meet with Owners and Architects in a professional manner and have the ability to communicate effectively both the concerns and best interests of the company
Monitor, interpret and forecast a project’s cost reports ensuring they are in line with the estimate and maintain a positive cash flow
Lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team’s ongoing development and progression
Submit project reports to Area Manager and communicate with management about project progress and areas of risk that need to be escalated
Is this the right role for you?
You have a construction related degree/diploma and 5 to 10 years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
You have a working knowledge of construction scopes and activities, scheduling, project management and contract software
You have the ability to confidently mentor and delegate to a large team while developing and maintaining strong client relations
Previous work in ICI is required
Previous hospital experience is an asset
Previous mega project experience is an asset
