  • Senior Project Manager

    We are looking for a Senior Project Manager for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

    This position is 100% onsite in Calgary. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.

    Role Description

    The Senior Project Manager will support and provide expertise for technology-focused projects including but not limited to IT infrastructure, cyber security, software development, and data solutions.

    Responsibilities

    - Lead or assist in the definition or adjustment of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
    - Develop a delivery plan for the project reflecting the scope of work, resources and delivery methodologies. Identify and define key deliverables and milestones for the project along with detailed tasks and sequence of work. Obtain approval on the delivery plan before proceeding with the project.
    - Manage project teams comprise of various roles and skill sets responsible for the delivery of the projects. Effectively build, leverage, and support the project team under management through the project lifecycle.
    - Manage the project during the inception, development, implementation and operations startup by following well-defined methodologies and best practices to ensure that resources are utilized effectively and that the project is developed and is fully operational within time, cost and performance parameters.
    - Formulate statements of problems; establish procedures for the development and implementation of significant, new or modified project elements to solve these problems, and obtain approval thereof.
    - Define and document the objectives for the project; determine budget and resource requirements, the team composition, roles and responsibilities for all team members and project norms for the project team.
    - Report progress and total cost of the project on an ongoing basis including any changes in schedule, scope, budget, resources, risks or issues throughout the project life cycle.
    - Apply appropriate project controls in alignment with project methodologies.
    - Identify and engage with project stakeholders to ensure ongoing alignment on objectives and to maintain common understanding throughout the life of the project.
    - Ensure that any material changes in project scope, schedule or budget are clearly defined and approved before being incorporated into the project delivery plan.

    Software Development Projects:

    - Plan sprints, testing and releases, groom available work items, contribute to story elaboration, assign and advance tasks through an Agile process implemented, track progress and sprint burndown schedule using Azure DevOps Services.

    Infrastructure Projects:

    - Planning for communication, rollout, disaster recover, failover and scaling of IT infrastructure.
    - Implementation and rollout of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software to the enterprise, this may include planning start-to-end, status reporting, coordinate resources for user requirements, communications, change management, training, data migration activities.

    Enterprise Data Projects:

    - Engage with stakeholders, business and data owners/stewards, facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams, conduct regular stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives in accordance with the Agile development process, ensure compliance with enterprise data architecture and adherence to data governance best practices.

    Required Skills and Experience

    - Must have a minimum of 10 years experience working as a Project Manager on a similar requirement such as:
    - Interdepartmental systems
    - Enterprise-wide solutions
    - Business process reengineering
    - Multi-year, multi releases
    - Interoperability with multiple systems
    - Complex change management involving interdepartmental stakeholders and clients

    Skills and Experience

    - 8+ years of Project Management experience
    - PMP or equivalent certification preferred
    - Understanding of workforce management, workforce systems, HRIS, or operational process improvement in oil and gas or related industries is required
    - Strong understanding of project governance, documentation, and stakeholder reporting
    - Change management experience.
    - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    - Hard-working and willing to take on challenges as well as self-starter that takes initiative when it comes to completing all necessary tasks
    - Can deal with some ambiguity and less structure
