Position Overview Calian is seeking a Research Technologist - Level 3. The individual ill be part of the Royal Military College (RMC) SLOWPOKE-2 nuclear reactor team and the Analytical Sciences Group (ASG). The work consists of maintaining various electronic equipment, analyzing and troubleshooting issues, and assisting in the design of new hardware. This work will require using the established configuration management framework. All hardware changes and upgrades will be documented with established controlled change processes
Responsibilities Perform day-to-day tasks related to electronic systems associated to the SLOWPOKE-2 reactor, (e.g., troubleshooting, investigating, fixing, monitoring functions, etc.). • Perform preventative maintenance of equipment. • Have experiment with configuration management and utilizing a controlled change process. • Report issues in a timely manner. • Maintain records and documentation (e.g., user manuals, procedures, changes in procedures, etc.) in an organized and timely manner, both electronically on computer and in paper records. • Advise discussions on equipment upgrades, calibrations, new purchases, new designs, etc. • Complete build on assigned equipment upgrades. • Track purchase orders and manage materials, have and organize an inventory of spare parts (e.g., meters, hardware, tools, etc.).
